-As the Surgical Coordinator, you will promote patient confidence in their medical care and make the surgical experience as smooth as possible while acting as the liaison between the office, surgical facility, patient, and physician.
- Forwards necessary information to facility for surgery
- Our Surgical Coordinators are responsible for guiding the patient through the surgical process
- Schedules surgeries to be performed in facility; follows procedure for surgery schedule changes (i.e., cancellation, reschedule); considers priorities/emergencies and patient special needs when scheduling surgical procedures.
- Performs EMR documentation accurately; identifies proper surgery site, procedure, and special needs of Surgeon
- Collects and distributes appropriate paperwork to internal and external parties to coordinate the surgeries
- Serve as a compassionate and informative point of contact for patients scheduled for surgical procedures
- Ensure information is obtained regarding the scheduling of physicians on call
- Coordinates activities with other departments, or doctor offices - if necessary
- Consults with nurse managers, doctors and staff on medical problems, special accommodations, and policies to ensure patient needs are met
- Provides accurate, detailed information to patients regarding test preparations, time of patients scheduled arrival, and any other directional information needed; takes appropriate action in responding to questions from patients etc.
- Ensures patients have proper medical clearance and pre-surgical testing as needed
