JOB TITLE: Instructional Aide
REPORTS TO: Principal, Superintendent
SUMMARY DESCRIPTION
Properly trained paraprofessionals play an important role in improving student achievement in schools. The Instructional Aide will be asked daily by their supervising teacher to assist, support, and supervise students.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Building Instructional Capacity
- Maintain a caring and patient approach
- Speak with children respectfully and using intentional language
- Listen attentively and respond appropriately to what children say or do by implementing age appropriate best practices
- Guide children's behavior in positive ways keeping them safe, refraining from physical manipulation, and encouraging independence
- Interact with all stakeholders in ways that support curricular objectives
- Exhibit the ability to maintain awareness of what is happening in all parts of the classroom
Planning & Professional Learning
- Interact in a positive manner with all building staff
- Accept direction willingly from immediate supervisors and building leadership
- Exhibit a desire and willingness to participate in learning and training opportunities relevant to Early Childhood
Student Support
- Remain positive when working with identified children and help build self-esteem and reach goals
- Model appropriate play, speech (volume/tone/content) for children fostering positive peer interactions and empathy
- Maintain a clean and healthy learning environment
- Assist children as needed with basic hygiene, toileting and diapering
QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS REQUIRED
Educational Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- Valid Driver's License
- Pass a background check
- Completed checklist
- 2 years of passing college credits or pass the Paraprofessional Test
- Must be available at 6:00 am
