Summary
THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION.
This National Guard position is for a Supply Technician (Title 32) (Indefinite), Position Description Number D0849000 and is part of the VA G4, National Guard.

In order to be eligible for this position you must currently be an Enlisted Member (E1/PVT - E8/MSG) in the Virginia Army National Guard.
Duties
As a Supply Technician (Title 32), GS-2005-07, you will perform the below duties:
1. Provide storage and distribution, cataloging or supply identification systems, property utilization, or other related supply activities including those associated with automated or manual supply accounting systems.
2. Performs routine and nonroutine material coordination duties for special programs, maintenance, or production shops.
3. Responsible for local management of decentralized and decontrolled items which requires technical intervention to assure effective supply support and economy. Items are less stable or standardized and do not lend themselves to routine control through the use of the computer and variable supply level formulas. Plans requirements, both quantitative and monetary, to satisfy customer needs. Authorizes procurement and is responsible for funds management.
4.Responsible for limited aspects of storage management. May develop and install local procedures and techniques to achieve and maintain smooth, effective, and coordination storage operations.
5.Performs other duties as assigned.

  • This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state's National Guard, required prior to the effective date of placement.
  • Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform.
  • Acceptance of an excepted service position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment.
  • Applicants who are not currently a member of the National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership and employment in the National Guard in the military grade listed in this announcement.
  • Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation.
  • May be required to successfully complete a probationary period.
  • Participation in direct deposit is mandatory.
  • This position is not located at a bargaining unit.
  • This position may be extended or made permanent at a later date without further competition.

Qualifications
NOTE: Qualifications are based on breadth/level of experience. WHO CAN APPLY:
GROUP I -
All qualified Male/Female Enlisted Personnel (E1/PVT - E8/MSG) currently employed (permanent) in the Virginia Army National Guard Military Technician Program.
GROUP II - All qualified Virginia Army National Guard Male/Female Enlisted Personnel (E1/PVT - E8/MSG), regardless of employment status (Traditional, Military Technician or AGR). To be considered as a Group II applicant, proof of appointment/enlistment in the Virginia National Guard must be attached if the appointment/enlistment occurred within 60 days prior to, or during, the advertisement period.
Military Grades: Enlisted Personnel (E1/PVT - E8/MSG)
GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Applicant must have experience, education, or training in a variety of operations or situations concerned with substance or content of supply actions, requiring ability to decide course of action to take, considering the circumstances or conditions encountered as well as experience using computer and automation systems.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicant must have at least 12 months of specialized experience, equivalent to at least the GS-05 level, or equivalent pay band in other pay systems in the Federal government? This experience may also have been obtained in the private sector but must demonstrate that it is comparable to the GS grade indicated. This experience must include activities such as:
  1. Experience which has provided you with a thorough knowledge of governing supply regulations, policies, procedures, and instructions.
  2. Experience conducting extensive searches for required information and reconstructing records for complex supply transactions.
  3. Experience providing supply operations support for activities involving specialized or unique supplies, equipment, or parts.
  4. Experience performing routine aspects of supply work based on practical knowledge of standard procedures, where assignments include individual case problems related to a limited segment in one of the major areas of supply management.
