Job Purpose

Design, develop, and implement methods, practices, and techniques that ensure current and future demand requirements align with manufacturing and supplier capabilities/capacities. Support the most economical movement of materials through the supply chain to achieve cost-effective logistics practices and inventory levels while meeting customer service requirements.


Essential Functions

  • Lead/facilitate the Sales and Operations Planning (S&OP) process and ensure alignment to customer and financial requirements with manufacturing and supplier capabilities
  • Track the demand plan (S&OP forecast) vs operation plan vs financial plan
  • Lead/facilitate plant production and inventory planning meetings in order to align human resources and asset requirements to meet sales plan
  • Ensure product availability to meet customer orders
  • Analyze forecasting and manufacturing variances to establish appropriate inventory level target ranges to achieve customer fill rate expectations
  • Analyze forecast and manufacturing variances along with lead times to continuously improve turns
  • Monitor sales forecast and manufacturing variances to communicate service risks and negative impacts to financial plan
  • Establish and drive improvements to Key Performance Indicators, including forecast accuracy (MAPE, bias), inventory (gross/net dollars, DIOH), Slow Moving/Obsolete (SLOB), and customer service (OTIF).
  • Develop supply plans for production plants and 3PLs to hit target inventory levels and customer service levels while minimizing obsolescence
  • Monitor and facilitate resolutions on product availability issues for customer orders through root cause analysis
  • Gain thorough understanding of plant capabilities; maintain master file linking plant capabilities to production schedule
  • Coordinate phase-in of new products and phase-out of discontinued products
  • Set and achieve annual inventory business plan
  • Monitor and set safety stock levels
  • Create and utilize in-depth analytical tools to support issue resolution, decision making, and execution oversight
  • Ensure MRP/ERP settings are aligned with desired system outputs
  • Troubleshoot MRP/ERP system issues and discrepancies
  • Build collaborative relationships with key stakeholders including Marketing, Manufacturing, Finance, External Operations, R&D, Sales, HR, and Quality
  • Manage production scheduling teams
  • Coordinate with internal customers/teams to ensure production schedules/downtime align with the team’s needs/capabilities while ensuring customer service goals are met (e.g., Engineering, Sanitation, Maintenance, R&D)
  • Support and influence business planning and financial planning processes and leverage lean concepts to develop and effectively implement advanced supply chain solutions, processes, and systems improvements

Qualifications (Education/Experience)

  • Bachelor's degree in supply chain, operations, business or relevant field
  • 3+ years of related experience in demand, inventory, supply network planning, Supply Planning and/or materials management
  • APICS Certification (CPIM or CSCP) desired
  • Highly analytical; superior data mining skills with high proficiency and advanced understanding in Microsoft Excel
  • Solutions and results oriented with the ability to meet firm deadlines
  • Extensive understanding of manufacturing and product supply processes
  • Understanding of end-to-end supply chain interactions and interdependencies
  • Strong understanding of planning system functionality, planning parameters, net requirement inputs, and integration into supply chain processes
  • Strong interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to work effectively within an organization and collaborate with internal and external clients to determine requirements and eliminate barriers that may affect the delivery of product
