Position Summary

We are seeking a Materials and Logistics Manager to join our Supply Chain Operations team in Bakken. Reporting to the GSC Asset Senior Manager, the successful candidate will support the Bakken Upstream and Midstream Organization by leveraging the full GSC capability to deliver to the asset objectives. In this role, you will lead a team responsible for material demand management, procurement, materials management, fleet, logistics, and supplier performance management. You will also collaborate with the central category management team, business partners, Master Data Online team, Procurement Delivery Optimization team, and suppliers to establish priorities and drive continuous improvement activities for the planning and scheduling process.

 

Responsibilities

  • Manage a team focused on material demand management, procurement, materials management, fleet, logistics, and material supplier performance management.
  • Support stakeholders in Reliability Operations, Wells, Infrastructure, and Commercial for the full end-to-end materials process.
  • Drive execution to be consistent with agreed standard work, global standards and procedures.
  • Participate and understand demands from ongoing asset operating rhythm.
  • Prioritize workload and manage business expectations.
  • Build strong internal networks amongst stakeholders (Asset business leads, functional leads, and Central Supply Chain teams).
  • Lead the sourcing process, market analysis, demand management, supplier qualification, procurement strategy development, negotiation, and supplier performance management for designated contracts and categories.
  • Structure deep supplier relationships that optimize safety, quality, delivery, and cost for the Company and are mutually beneficial to the Supplier (Win-Win).
  • Utilize lean problem-solving skills to drive continuous improvement.
  • Ensure compliance with legislative regulations and corporate policies and procedures (Sarbanes-Oxley, FCPA, etc.).
  • Proactively participate and provide leadership in support of EHS (Environment, Health, and Safety) and IDE (Inclusion, Diversity, and Equity) initiatives.
  • Participate in Site Safety Visits and workplace Safety observations.

 

General Requirements

  • 10+ years of Supply Chain experience including Materials Procurement, Inventory Optimization, Warehouse and Yard Management, Logistics, and Fleet preferably within an Upstream O&G company.
  • Demonstrated prior experience in the end-to-end Supply Chain process including demand management, sourcing, procurement, contract development, and performance management.
  • Experience in ERP systems, including Purchase Orders, price books, material masters, inventory management, preferably in SAP.
  • A demonstrated successful track record of people management as well as functional and budgetary accountability.
  • Undergraduate degree in Supply Chain or related field preferred.
  • Professional Supply Chain, Procurement Qualification, or LEAN Six Sigma certification, or desire to obtain, is a plus.
  • Must demonstrate Leading at Hess behavioral competencies.
  • Must demonstrate the ability to execute the roles and responsibilities of the position, as outlined, with minimal direct supervision.

  • Proficient technical understanding of Upstream and Midstream activities, materials, and services.
  • Strong understanding of planning and scheduling cycles to meet customer expectations of material availability.
  • Demonstrates strong organization, time management and prioritization skills.
  • Proven record of accomplishment in influencing and managing stakeholders and suppliers.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with demonstrated drive, tenacity, credibility at all levels of the business, and ability to manage/drive change combined with high levels of commercial savvy.
  • Solid ethical conduct and integrity that demonstrates continuous commercial best practice to the highest standards.
  • Awareness of and/or involvement in Supplier Performance and Supplier Relationship Management processes.
  • Ability to perform under pressure and to adjust to changing priorities in a demanding work environment.
  • Strong computer skills including SAP, Ariba, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, etc.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills (presentations, effective conversations).
  • Understanding of contract legal terms and conditions and various compensation models.
  • Safety awareness with high level of passion for engaging people to put safety first
  • Inventory strategy, optimization, inventory integrity, material flow optimization, master data process enablers
  • Experience with materials and equipment knowledge, and materials management for Upstream and Midstream Operations, Wells, and Infrastructure.
  • Lean Leadership experience, with understanding of waste elimination, and value stream management/ flow optimization
  • Experience in team building, including influencing others
  • Data Analysis Skills (Operational, Financial, SQDCP Performance Metrics, etc.)
