Job Description
- Purchase (manufacturing) goods, materials, components, or services in line with specified cost, quality, and delivery targets.
- Ensure a continuous supply of required goods and materials and communicate any supply problems. which may pose a risk or impact on business operations.
- Research and evaluate areas of opportunity and reduce costs where possible.
- Deliver briefs, updates, and reports as and when required.
- Assess offers and quotes from potential suppliers.
- Purchase materials and services for departments outside of Operations, as necessary.
- Prepare purchase orders in line with final negotiations.
- Contact suppliers to resolve price, quality, delivery, or invoice issues.
- Become subject matter expert for Client’s ERP system (NetSuite) and train staff on best practices when purchasing materials.
- Work collaboratively when engaging with stakeholders and vendors to develop positive relationships.
- Partner with our Senior Buyer on the most efficient approaches to manage Ambient’s supply base.
- Highly skilled at building and maintaining effective and productive relationships with key stakeholders and suppliers.
- Strong communication, interpersonal and influencing skills.
- Analytical, numerically astute with strong proven problem-solving abilities.
- Results orientated with the ability to plan and deliver against project deadlines.
- Commercially and financially aware.
- High attention to detail and accuracy.
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration or equivalent
- 3-5 years of proven purchasing experience, preferably within an automotive or manufacturing environment.
- Experience purchasing for raw materials as well as capital equipment is a major plus.
- Ability to add value, reduce costs and make business improvements.
- Computer literate, including advanced Excel skills.
- Experience in logistics processes in a high-tech, high-volume environment is a plus.
- Ability to stand, walk, and/or sit for extended periods of time.
- Proficiency in using hands and arms to manipulate tools and equipment.
- Capable of lifting and/or moving up to 50 pounds.
- Comfortable wearing personal protective equipment, including safety glasses and hearing protection.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced production environment with tight deadlines.
