The Weitz Company is seeking a Supply Chain Analyst - Steel for the Supply Chain business group to be located in Des Moines, IA.
The Supply Chain Analyst is responsible for handling tactical procurement support functions and managing office or project specific tasks. This role will coordinate the day-to-day activity with suppliers and project teams to monitor quality assurance and delivery status. The Supply Chain Analyst typically reports to the Category Manager.
What You'll Do:
- Create project procurement plans to support Supply Chain activities for construction projects
- Prepare RFI/ RFP packages, evaluate proposals and responses, perform commercial analysis and compile vendor/supplier recommendations
- Perform document management and project administration duties
- Complete tactical procurement activities (i.e. PO entry, shipment tracking, and invoice approval)
- Implement strategic sourcing principles of consolidation; standardize and substitute to reduce project total costs, project schedule, and improve delivered value
- Assist in negotiations of supplier terms and conditions
- Track supplier performance; develop reports to ensure contract compliance
- Compile metrics, project status and research to internal teams; present as needed
- Collaborate with Supply Chain professionals and business unit employees
- Travel to business units or project sites as needed
- Perform other duties as assigned
What We're Looking For:
- Education: A Bachelor's Degree in Supply Management, Business, Economics, Engineering or equivalent industry experience is required. A Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM) or Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification is desirable, or the willingness to obtain.
- Experience: An internship involving procurement management experience with a world-class construction company, builders supply company or building products manufacturer is desirable. Experience in a fast paced business environment and familiarity with reading/understanding construction plans are both a plus for this role.
- Skills: Negotiation, relationship building, organization, knowledge and/or exposure to quality assurance are necessary abilities for this position. A qualified candidate will demonstrate effective communication, judgment, initiative, time management, attention to detail, flexibility, problem solving, multi-tasking and the ability to maintain a pleasant and positive attitude, even in difficult situations.
- Systems: Proficiency in basic computer software programs such as Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook. Employee should have the ability to learn other specific software (JDE, Procore, Bluebeam, etc.).
