Supplier Quality Engineer III
The outside special process (OSP) SQE provides special process engineering support to Engineering, Quality, and Production departments for various special processes used at Moog. The focus for this position is special process auditing internal and external as well as driving supplier-based corrective actions. The primary function is to identify gaps between specification requirements and process implementation and to assess the effectiveness of corrective action. The OSP SQE will have knowledge of Painting, Soldering, Heat Treatment, Non-Destructive Testing, Shot Peening, and various Plating/Coating processes. The OSP SQE must be flexible to support a changing workload. The incumbent shall report to the local SQE Manager. The position does not involve the direct supervision of personnel, however, in practice, a significant amount of time will be spent providing direction, leadership, and mentoring to Moog personnel.
The incumbent will spend much of their time conducting special process audits, preparation of special process audit checklist, and assist in resolution of audit findings, Non-Conformances, and Corrective Actions. The incumbent must have a general knowledge of manufacturing processes and materials, knowledge of Moog systems and procedures, exceptional interpersonal tact and communication skills, analytical approach and problem-solving skills and be a highly motivated individual willing to display initiative. The OSP SQE at times provides feedback to management regarding facility health, and compliance with contractual expectations. The incumbent will be required to use a variety of problem-solving techniques, interpersonal communication, and presentation skills to perform their job.
Responsibilities:
• Schedule and conduct external Special Process audits at Moog's supplier facilities assuring compliance with technical specification and contract requirements.
• Assign responsibility for corrective actions and monitor CA responses. Assist process owners with interpreting findings and provide guidance with respect to corrective actions.
• Maintain and record audit results. Operate and assist in maintaining the special process audit database.
• Schedule and perform follow-up assessments, as required, to evaluate effectiveness of corrective action implementation.
• Coordinate and interface with management, engineering, and other various function to facilitate corrective action resolution and implementation.
• Travel: 25-30% per year to support special process audits, non-conformance tracking, and corrective action implementation.
• Candidate must be able to walk extensively in a manufacturing environment and be able to climb ladders and shop platform steps as well as navigate passageways.
Basic Qualifications:
• BS/BT with 6 years related experience or MS/MA with 4 years related experience.
• Specialist technical experience, qualifications, training, and skills may be required depending on the exact job context: For example, metallurgy, industrial chemistry, processing knowledge, metrology, Moog product knowledge, GD&T, machining, electrical components.
• Proven experience with formal problem solving and quality improvement tool and techniques (5-why, Ishikawa, RCCA, 8D, DMAIC etc).
• AS9100 lead auditor training / certification.
• Lean / 6-sigma training / certification (green/black belt).
• Zero-defects, APQP/PPAP training and proven experience.
• Project Management qualifications, skills and proven experience.
• Advanced problem solving, team building, verbal and written communication skills.
The base pay range for this opportunity is $79,955. - $147,618. per year. The base salary range represents the low and high end of the Moog salary range for this position in the given work location. Actual salaries will vary depending on factors including location, experience, and performance. The range(s) listed is just one component of Moog's total compensation package for employees.
