This is an exciting time to work for Amarillo College! We are seeking Part-Time Supplemental Instructors in our Technical Education Electrical and Plumbing subject areas. Supplemental Instructors work on an as needed basis, will adhere to the aforementioned mission statement, and will perform duties primarily related to the instruction of courses in assigned subject matter areas.
GENERAL QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
EDUCATION:
- Preferred: High School Diploma or GED.
CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENSES:
- Required: Electrical or Plumbing Certifications from an Accredited Institute of Higher Education.
- Preferred: Texas Plumbing License or Texas Electrical License; Electrical or Plumbing Journeyman License.
EXPERIENCE:
- Required: 3+ years of experience in electrical or construction industry (commercial or residential)
- Preferred: 5+ years of experience in electrical or construction industry (commercial or residential)
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide supplemental classroom instruction for applicable programs.
- Perform effective teaching activities, directing projects, and assisting with student coursework, research and internships.
- Plan, develop and present organized instructions and learning opportunities for students in accordance with approved course outlines.
- Teach day, evening, and/or weekend courses as required.
- Attend briefings on procedures, advising, registration, and general policy.
- Complete appropriate administrative paperwork and performance evaluations in a timely manner.
- Participate in department, division and college meetings as assigned or required.
- Assume responsibility for the orderliness of the learning environment and in the appropriate and safe use of instructional facilities and equipment.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Demonstrate and maintain competence in the use of instructional technology.
- Demonstrate competence in his/her teaching field and related technologies.
- Knowledge of College policies.
- Ability to work under stress.
- Ability to work independently and as a team member.
- Ability to deal with people in a professional manner.
- Comprehensive knowledge of state and federal regulations concerning the operation of commercial motor vehicles.
- Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills.

Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to travel between offices and buildings, and requires the ability to lift, carry, push, pull and/or maneuver office supplies as needed.
Working Environment: This job may operate in a classroom, online, or tech supported setting. This role routinely uses standard classroom and office equipment such as microphones, audio/video-recorders, computers, overhead projectors, phones, copy machines, filing cabinets and fax machines. Classroom location assignment may vary.
Salary: $40/hr.
