The Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center has an exciting opportunity for a Full-Time Supervisor, Scientific Lab. This is an onsite opportunity. The Supervisor, Research Laboratory oversees complex research protocols and next generation sequencing (NGS) research activities. The candidate will focus on NGS and Molecular Genomics efforts, develop cutting-edge sequencing platform and single cell multi-omics technologies.
CORE JOB FUNCTIONS
Apply NGS and single cell omics technology capabilities and workflows. Conduct day-to-day NGS experiments. Interact with bioinformatics scientists in the lab for quality control of NGS data to ensure data quality.
Additional Core Responsibilities:

• Keeps all laboratory equipment in good working order and makes minor repairs.
• Oversees and collaborates in the development of study tools.
• Evaluates the availability of resources for research studies and the impact of studies on resources.
• Develops, implements, and maintains standard operating procedures.
• Reviews numerous laboratory results and enters abnormal results into database.
• Coordinates trainings and monitors performance of procedures.
• Assists in the determination of fiscal requirements and in the preparation of budgetary recommendations.
• Prepares reports setting forth progress, adverse trends, and appropriate recommendations.
• Establishes and continuously assesses the effectiveness of the internal controls within the unit and compliance with University policies and procedures. Ensures employees are trained on controls within the function and on University policy and procedures.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Extensive demonstrated experience in molecular biology and genetics/genomics including DNA/RNA isolation and manipulation, NGS library prep, QC, and sequencing.
• Experience with single cell multi-omics and 10X Genomics technologies and cell-free DNA library prep methods
• Experience with high throughput operation of automated liquid handler, vector cloning, PCR, qPCR
• Demonstrated superior ability for experiment planning, execution and troubleshooting, and ability to develop/optimize new assays
• Demonstrated skills in organization, analysis, and communication
• Proven ability to work independently and in collaborative team environments

CORE QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
BA required, Master's degree or higher in Molecular Biology, Genetics, Functional Genomics, Biochemistry, Bioinformatics. Neuroscience or related fields is a plus.
Experience:
Minimum 3 years of relevant experience
