Neurotech Pharmaceuticals is an innovative biopharmaceutical company located in Cumberland, RI, within the realm of Greater Boston’s vast biotechnology landscape. Since our inception more than 20 years ago, we have been developing a proprietary biological drug device combination technology for treatment of a variety of retinal disorders. Our most advanced program is developing a treatment for the orphan disease Macular Telangiectasia Type 2 (MacTel). Our Encapsulated Cell Technology (ECT) platform is designed to deliver a genetically modified neuroprotective factor to slow the progression of this chronic retinal disease.
We are seeking a Supervisor of QC Microbiology/Environmental Monitoring who will support and oversee the activities and personnel in the microbiology group as they perform routine EM and microbiology testing responsibilities. The person in this role with be responsible for results in terms of product quality, timeliness, performance, and conformance to regulations and procedures at the Neurotech facility in Cumberland, RI. Please note, this role will be required to function in a hands-on manner and perform lab tasks/testing as required.
This is an on-site role in Cumberland, RI. This is not a hybrid or remote opportunity.

Essential Functions & Duties
- Trend data, prepare metrics, review documents, train, and mentor personnel, write and create procedures, protocols/reports, performs investigations.
- Devise duties and responsibilities for training lab and manufacturing personnel as needed.
- Oversee personnel work schedule to ensure all assigned tasks are performed in a timely manner.
- Manage lab inventory and EM/Micro back up inventory as needed.
- Support periodic maintenance of lab equipment.
- Continue to always foster our culture in the lab for audit readiness.
- Write and review investigational test plans and reports as needed.
- Write, review, and approve Environmental Monitoring Performance Qualification, Gowning Qualification, Contamination Control activities.
- Utilize scientific principles to assist in troubleshooting and problem solving for deviations.
- Plan and develop special project work as needed.
- Initiate and perform Investigations/CAPAs associated with microbiological testing.
- Serve as author and/or technical reviewer of departmental SOPs and other technical documents.
- Review EM data, release test data and any other Microbiology lab data/logbooks.
- Communicate effectively with department and cross functional management.
- Support Tier 1 meetings, laboratory operational excellence and safety walkthroughs.
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, biology, or related field of study.
- Minimum of 5-7 years directly related experience in a recognized professional or technical/scientific field.
- Prior experience in Environmental Monitoring and Microbiological Laboratory Testing.
- 3+ years of experience in a supervisory/managerial function.
- Experience in a pharmaceutical cGMP environment is an asset.
