Job Description/Summary:
Under the general supervision of the Practice Administrator and Medical Director of ECHO/EKG/Stress Labs, the Supervisor will be responsible for supervising the daily operational, human resource, administrative/business functions and leadership of the respective clinical areas. The Supervisor provides expertise in managing technical and clinical innovation in the labs, including oversight of service contracts and provision of staff training.
Essential Functions:
- Workforce Management: Oversee technical staff in the ECHO, EKG and Stress labs with guidance from Director and Practice Administrator.
- Function as a staff supervisor, technical expert and clinical leader among the staff and provide direction and training to technical and administrative staff in the Pediatric Echocardiography Lab and EKG/Stress Lab and all satellite locations.
- Plan daily work and on-call schedules for all technical staff. Adjust daily technical assignments as necessary to enhance continuity of patient care. Coordinate technical personnel’s time off (PTO, education leave, etc.) based on staffing needs of the departments. Reviews and approves timecards.
- Contribute to the execution and delivery of Performance Management and Talent Development methods and processes; deliver elements of the technical design; and monitor outcomes and propose remedial actions where appropriate.
- Operations Management: Develop Overseeing laboratory procedures, protocols and updates them as needed. Supervise and maintain quality assurance and continuing quality improvement program including periodic review of procedures/tests for quality and proficiency
- Manage effective systems for all aspects of patient care services within the Pediatric Echocardiography/EKG/Stress Labs.
- Coordinate ordering of supplies and minor equipment.
- Coordinate scheduling of repairs and maintenance of lab equipment
- Maintain all equipment leases and software licensing.
- Organize and participate in conferences, equipment demonstrations, and technical meetings as needed
- Maintain lab certification(s) and initiate necessary quality projects.
- Coordinate and develop the Pediatric Congenital Heart program relative to the imaging requirements of this patient population.
- Patient Care: Perform cardiac testing, including but not limited to, the echo lab, ECG and Holter lab, stress test lab, including the collection of information pertinent to the interpretation of the tests echocardiograms and all other cardiac testing as needed at the main campus and Satellite Clinics.
- Maintain competency in all clinical modalities offered in the Echo/EKG/Stress Labs including data interpretation and generating preliminary reports according to departmental procedures and job standards.
- May be included in the on-call rotation as needed.
- Performs other duties as required.
Technical Knowledge:
- Demonstrates technical skills needed to perform all Cardiology testing.
- Ability to independently perform the daily duties required for the performance and recording of all invasive and non-invasive procedures in the echo/EKG labs.
- Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Prior experience with electronic medical records (EMR)
Minimum Education: High School or equivalent. Graduation from an accredited Cardiovascular Technology Program.
Minimum Experience:
- 5-7 years of pediatric cardiovascular experience in ECHO.
- Prior experience as a team lead in a clinical environment preferred.
Additional Minimum Requirements:
- Successful completion of Registry specialty exams by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) – Pediatric Echo Examination.
- Current American Heart BLS Certification Required
