At LCRA, we are seeking a dedicated and experienced Natural Science Programs Supervisor to lead our team in maintaining operations at our McKinney Roughs Nature Center Park! The Natural Science Programs Supervisor will play a pivotal role in overseeing experiential education, recreation programs, and maintaining environmental conservation efforts. This role requires strong leadership skills, a passion for the outdoors, and a commitment to practicing the best safety measures. This position offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on both the park and the community it serves. LCRA has over 40 parks across Texas, along the Colorado River, that attract outdoor enthusiasts from across the country! You will be trusted to:
- Plan and oversee experiential education and outdoor recreation programs and events at Natural Science centers and other outreach locations as needed.
- Supervise Natural Science program staff, temporary workers, volunteers and seasonal staff.
- Hire, train, assign work, evaluate and manage performance, determine compensation of subordinate staff in compliance with human resources policies and handles all aspects of staff supervision.
- Maintain awareness of departmental issues and responds to employee needs and concerns. Communicate with employees to ensure accurate and timely dissemination of information. Ensure employees attend required training and maintain required licenses and certifications.
- Create and plan new and innovative programming and educational programs.
- Develop and manage Natural Science program budget(s). Participates in strategic planning and budgeting process. Prepares reports and forecasts as directed.
- Serve as a liaison with local, state and other agencies on Natural Sciences, experiential outdoor education and/or recreation programs. Promote partnership programs and establishes relationships with universities and research institutions to promote internship and research opportunities. Works closely with LCRA’s non-profit partners to meet LCRA’s goals associated with community services.
- Drive as needed in the course of providing programs.
You qualify with:
- Six or more years’ experience in facilitating and developing experiential education, adventure, recreation or Natural Science Programs, or other relevant experience, including one year of leadership experience.
- One year of experience working with children and adults of all ages and abilities
- Driver’s license
- Basic First Aid, CPR and Automated External Defibrillator (AED) Certifications
