Purpose
Provide Academic Advising to students in the School of Human Ecology Advising Center. To facilitate multiple sections of small learning communities and/or support programmatic initiatives. Provide accurate and timely information on course and degree options to SoHE populations. To advance our core mission of fostering wellness, belonging, and success for all students.
Responsibilities
  • To provide academic advising for students individually and in groups. Work with SoHE students to help with their academic success by referring them to appropriate resources, assist with degree planning, and help them navigate their time at the University of Texas at Austin.
  • Facilitate two CNS Freshman Interest Groups (FIG). This includes mentoring small community cohort mentors and assisting to develop weekly lesson plans for FIG meetings.
  • Support course enrollment for SoHE classes as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned, including supporting special projects and staffing events within CNS.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree. Experience working with student populations.
  • Excellent written and verbal skills

Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
Preferred Qualifications
One or more years of experience working with students in an academic capacity. Knowledge of the University of Texas at Austin's campus resources and systems, such as Advisor Toolkit.
Salary Range
$40,000 - $41,500
Working Conditions

Employment Eligibility:
Regular staff who have been employed in their current position for the last six continuous months are eligible for openings being recruited for through University-Wide or Open Recruiting, to include both promotional opportunities and lateral transfers. Retirement Plan Eligibility:
The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS), subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length.
