Our diversity is key to our continued success and forges a path where our culture supports greater equity and inclusion for our employees, customers and beyond.POSITION OVERVIEWThe Supervisor, Electrical reports directly to the Superintendent, Maintenance and is a member of a multi-disciplined crew responsible for maintaining the terminals electric equipment; generators, variable frequency drives, switch gear motor control centers, control panels, transformers, protection relays, motor starters, breakers, control wiring and UPS systems and associated preventive maintenance, overhauls, repair and replacement of said equipment in the liquefied natural gas (LNG) import, export, liquefaction and regasification (SPL) terminal.
Dedication, sensitivity to safety issues and compliance with policies and procedures are essential for the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of the terminal. The Supervisor, Electrical provides leadership and expertise to less experienced support staff and technicians.RESPONSIBILITIES AND ESSENTIAL DUTIES* Perform the duties of a liquified natural gas (LNG) Supervisor, Electrical on days, however, will be required to be available 24 hours per day, 7 days per week during applicable periods.* Able and willing to lead and train direct reports to fully realize maximum team potential. Ensure team has continuous improvement attitude by utilizing daily meetings to transfer technical knowledge, as well as changes to job plans, procedure, policies, etc.* Schedule and direct the daily maintenance work process to ensure the safe and effective use of labor force and the timely completion of projects.
Analyze all work requests to determine necessary repair or replacement.* Analyze electrical control problems, operating deficiencies or out of tolerance conditions and determine repairs required.* Initiate notifications; create work orders, order parts and materials, plan, and schedule resources, for all daily, weekly, forced outage, and major scheduled outage work.* Instruct direct reports in safe work practices enforce Company safety policies and ensure compliance with applicable state/federal regulations. Investigate near miss or accidents and review reports and conduct safety observations as needed.* Establish and validate estimates for recurring maintenance work using past history, supervisors, planners, etc. knowledge concerning repeat failures and worst actors.
Work directly with reliability staff to formulate action plans to alleviate repeat problems.* Recommend improved practices, methods, and procedures to increase efficiency, quality, reduce equipment downtime and support budget goals and plant performance objectives.* Work with the Warehouse to maintain adequate inventory of spare parts as required and prepare requisitions for material, supplies and tools needed.* Analyze problems that may arise and find a workable solution that is practical, as well as, cost efficient.* Implement safe work habits for all direct reports and supervise outside service contractors for efficient work and safe behaviors.* Performance of coaching, mentoring, and the development of the direct reports.* Perform for assigned direct reports their performance evaluations, recognitions, and disciplinary action as required.* Participates and aid in the development of Department budgets, tracking and expense monitoring.* Maintains plants Switch Gear, Motor Control Centers, Control Panels, Transformers, Protection Relays, Motor Starters, Beakers, Control Wiring, Power Generation and UPS Systems.* Records maintenance data and informs Superintendent, Maintenance of potential problems and failures in a timely manner.* Works with the departmental supervisors and superintendents to expeditiously resolve problems and improve plant reliability and safety.* Aids in the development of Department KPI's, equipment reliability tracking, project planning and the tracking of these.* Monitor PM and CM activities to verify all work is completed within identified regulatory and or Company requirements.* The duties and responsibilities described are not a comprehensive list and additional tasks may be assigned to the employee from time to time; or the scope of the job may change as necessitated by business demands.KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:Knowledge:This position requires the understanding of all plant surroundings and can identify relevant equipment. Understands the physical properties of LNG. Possess basic knowledge of safe handling practices, governmental regulations and related technical and safety codes, standards and reporting requirements.
Knowledgeable of plant rules, guidelines and policies regarding relevant equipment operations and certification requirements. In depth knowledge of plant maintenance protocols and equipment diagnostics. Must be qualified in at least one craft skill - Instrumentation, Electrical, and/or Analyzer/Measurement.Skills:* Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and personal characteristics of integrity, accountability and dependability are required.* An acute sensitivity to safety issues in a hazardous environment.* Dedication, sensitivity to safety issues, compliance with policies and procedures are all essential for the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of the terminal.* Able to follow directions and quickly formulate and effectively communicate questions if clarification of an assignment is required.* Able to apply existing skills in new roles and or environments.* Strong written, oral and interpersonal communications skills.* Computer savvy, including Microsoft Office Suite, and aptitude for learning new software applications and systems.* Able to use key features of relevant software to perform job duties.* Must have the knowledge/background in the proper removal, installation and troubleshooting of various electrical equipment, Variable Frequency Drives, Switch Gear, Motor Control Centers, Control Panels, Transformers, Protection Relays, Motor Starters, Breakers Control Wiring, Power Generation, UPS Systems and Battery control systems.* Ability to read and understand various electrical, pneumatic, piping and Instrumentation Diagrams and Drawings.* Must have the knowledge of control principles and AC/DC circuits with strong background in electrical.EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCEEducation, Training and Certifications: High School diploma or equivalent is required.
Vocational training, associate degree, or equivalent is preferred.Experience: Minimum of seven (7) years of experience in an industrial environment in maintenance or operations.
