The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training. The starting salary range represents the College’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

Job Summary
Supervise campus custodial staff and ensure that campus Buildings and Grounds are maintained and work with district personnel to ensure proper functioning of heating, cooling, and maintenance equipment. Buildings and grounds include: Urban Campus, Evelyn K. Davis Center, Capitol Center, and Southridge Center.

Essential Functions
Supervise custodial staff, recommend personnel actions related to hiring, compensation, performance evaluations, training, leaves, discipline, grievances, work schedules and assignments, administers personnel and related policies and procedures per the collective bargaining agreements and the EEO/AA plan. Interact with Public Safety officers to assist in parking control, building security and prevention of crime or public nuisance or provide these services on campuses without contracted services when necessary. On-call for emergencies. Serve as liaison with outside groups using DMACC facilities.
Perform custodial and Grounds work. Maintain entryways and Grounds including but not limited to snow removal, mowing, planting, fertilizing and aeration. Maintain campus vehicles.
Order and maintain an inventory of maintenance, custodial, grounds, and building supplies from the Ankeny warehouse or outside vendors. Assist in preparation and implementation of budget. Occasionally prepare estimates, receive bids, and approve payment to contractors for repairs, equipment, etc.
Coordinate mechanical and electrical maintenance. Perform minor maintenance of heating and air conditioning equipment, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing repairs and make arrangements for major repairs. Test, analyze and treat chemical water systems for cooling tower and closed loop boiler and chiller water.
Move building equipment for faculty and staff; assemble modular furniture components and mount blackboards, shelves, etc. on walls. Check and maintain fire extinguishers, lighting, fire and tornado alarms, and clocks.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications
High school graduate or equivalent.
Four years of custodial and/or building maintenance experience two of which must be as a supervisor or lead-worker.
Valid Iowa Driver’s license or ability to obtain, with a satisfactory driving record.
Ability to properly operate a variety of hand tools and power equipment.
Ability to perform physical tasks involving: frequent moving of up to 75 lbs.; frequent bending, reaching, pushing and walking; and occasional climbing of ladders.
Strong communication skills.
Ability to plan, organize and manage time.
Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain a professional working relationship with a wide variety of individuals coming from diverse backgrounds.
Knowledge of current software applications.

Desired Qualifications
Commercial cleaning experience including hard surface floors and restroom cleaning.
