WA YOUTH RAINBOW CAMPING CREW MEMBER - SUMMER 2024
Northwest Youth Corps is seeking young people ages 16-18 interested in camping outdoors, living as a community, and making a positive impact on the earth. NYC is partnering with the National Park Service to offer an award-winning program for youth and young adults who identify with the LGBTQ+ community the opportunity to learn, grow, and experience success. Crewmembers will learn valuable work and outdoor skills, create new friendships, learn more about the LGBTQ community and themselves, and make memories that will last a lifetime!
Crew members camp in tents for five weeks, traveling to 2-4 different places across the mountains and forests of the Pacific Northwest. Experienced field staff provide training and education on conservation projects such as tree planting, fuels reduction, invasive plant removal, trail construction, and fencing. You join a close-knit team of 8-9 Crew Members and two crew leaders, committed to play a vital role in improving our public lands and the environment.
This is tough work. We work in all weather and our projects are hands-on. We value community, connection with others, and mutual support. All training is provided, and you do not need prior experience to apply. If you haven't had access to the outdoors but are interested in learning, come join us; this land is your land.
Dates: 6/22-7/20
Location: Crews start and end in Lake Wenatchee, WA. They camp together in remote locations the entire time, and you do not need to be from the Pacific Northwest to join. Project locations generally include national forests, parks, and public lands.
