Summer Enrichment Program Teacher (K-8)

Pay: $30 BA & $35 Masters
Summary: A Classroom Teacher servicing grades K to 8. The candidate must be goal-oriented, hardworking, and enthusiastic about fostering children's academic and social growth. Attend educational classes in the morning with certified teachers. In the afternoon, trained youth workers plan engaging and enjoyable activities, including science and math, healthy nutrition, life skills, arts & crafts, culture, and physical education.
Main responsibilities:
- The ideal candidate is passionate about working with children from diverse backgrounds in an urban setting.
- Create a safe and positive classroom environment that is conducive to learning.
- Implement instructional activities that contribute to a positive climate where students are actively engaged in the learning process.
- Collaborate with colleagues to enhance the implementation of the established curriculum.
- Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with students, parents, and colleagues.
- Serve as a positive role model to demonstrate professional and ethical standards when dealing with students, parents, and colleagues.
- Assist with school field trips on required occasions.
- Attends organizational meetings with other Summer School administrators.
- Organizes their classroom lessons based on the district/preferred curriculum.
- Engage with students during recess and/or other breaks.
- Requisitions and inventories classroom equipment, supplies, and textbooks, as needed.
- Assumes responsibility for supervision of students and attendance accounting.
- Submits enrollment and attendance reports promptly.
- Addresses questions and concerns from parents and students.
- Monitors the quality of instruction for Summer School course offerings.
- Reports and certifies to proper authorities the grades and progress achieved by Summer School students.
- Prepares and maintains required records.
- Attend ALL GC training and weekly team meetings.
- Help prepare students for the World Fair.
- Respond to emergency situations for the purpose of resolving immediate safety concerns.
- Other duties as assigned by the Assistant Site Coordinator or his/her designee.

Qualifications:
Active Missouri Teaching License required.
Availability to work the entire summer program is required.
Bilingual (English/Spanish) and/or TESOL endorsement preferred.
Certification in a specific subject area.
Prior experience teaching, is preferred.
While performing the duties of this job, employees are regularly required to sit, stand, walk, talk, hear, bend, operate a computer, handheld learning devices, and other office equipment, reach with hands and arms, and must occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds unassisted. This job's specific abilities include close vision, such as reading handwritten or typed material and adjusting focus. In addition, the position involves distance, color, peripheral, and depth perception vision abilities.
