Position Description

Title:Summer Recreation Program DirectorDepartment: Parks

Reports To: Park Commission Pay: $20.19

Purpose of the Position
The Summer Recreation Program Director is the lead person in developing the 8-week program for elementary aged children. To ensure the Village's Summer Recreation Program is enjoyable and safe for all participants.

Supervision
Work is performed under the direction of the Park Commission.

Essential Functions of the Job
May include, but are not limited to, the following:

1. Responsible for all aspects of summer program.
2. Responsible for planning, directing and supervising programs.
3. Recommend hiring of program staff.
4. Organizes and schedules themes and field trips.
5. Acts as principle contact for program operations.
6. Communicates with parents and children year-round.
7. Communicates with businesses, schools and members of the Park Commission.
8. Creates brochures and registration documents and makes them available to members of the community.
9. Acts as disciplinarian to program participants.
10. Maintains records and documents including registration sheets, daily numbers, emergency contacts, accident/incident logs and filed trip slips.
11. Works within the budget purchasing necessary materials and supplies.
12. Responsible for maintaining a safe atmosphere for staff and participants.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

1. Red Cross or American Heart Association CPR and First Aid certifications required or obtained by 6/1/24
2. Experience working with children.
3. Supervision of others preferred.

Physical Requirements and Work Environment:

Frequent contact with children.
May be exposed to inclement weather conditions

Physical Requirements:
Frequently required to stand, sit, talk and hear. The employee must routinely lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus. Ability to exert moderate physical effort in sedentary to light work, typically involving some combination of climbing and balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling. May be exposed to inclement weather conditions.

Due to the nature of the position, final applicant is subject to criminal background check.

Job Types: Part-time, Temporary

Pay: $20.19 per hour

Expected hours: 35 – 40 per week

Schedule:

  • 8 hour shift
  • Monday to Friday

Experience:

  • Childcare: 1 year (Preferred)

Work Location: Multiple locations
