PRD's summer camp and preschool programs are seeking enthusiastic, creative, dynamic, and spirited individuals to join our summer team. Under general supervision, Recreation Aides will provide support to Recreation Leaders in conducting various recreational and sports activities in the City's Schoolmates and preschool programs, summer camps and classes. (Formerly called Counselor-in-Training program).

QUALIFICATIONS AND COMPENSATION:
- Current enrollment in High School, minimum 15 years of age at the time of applying
- Work Permit required under 18 years of age
- Salary: $16.00 - $17.00 /hour
- Hours per week: 20-25 hours
Must be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 to ensure staff and campers are as safe and healthy as possible and to comply with enhanced health and safety protocols.
Knowledge of:
- Theories, principles, methods, and materials used in recreational activities with elementary school children.
- Principles and practices of recreation program supervision for elementary school children.
- Safety practices and procedures, including basic first aid and CPR.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES*
- Assist in supervision of recreation programs and activities such as games, arts and crafts, drama, sports activities, and special events.
- Mediate conflict resolution when needed, and display role model behavior to youth.
- Instruct and support children in the safe use of supplies, playground apparatus and equipment.
- Maintain safety and positive behavior of participants.
- Notify appropriate staff of any problems regarding facilities, children, and parents.
- Build and maintain positive working relationships with co-workers, other City employees, and the public using principles of good customer service.
- Perform related duties as assigned.
- Always ensures the health and safety of children and staff; maintains a safe, clean, organized environment and provides leadership and PRD camp spirit to all campers.
- Sets up and uses a variety of recreational, educational, cleaning, and other equipment related to the program.
- Performs other duties as assigned

Both the staff training and the onboarding session are mandatory for all summer employees.
ONBOARDING: Will take place at PRD in the 2nd floor classroom from 4:30 PM - 6:30 PM. All employees are expected to submit I-9 documentation and work permits (if applicable). Below are a list of onboarding session dates:

New/Returning All Camp Training: Saturday, June 1st from 9-11. Location determined based on camp assignments.
