Summer Internship- Quantititive Research: Macro-Geoeconomics
Eurasia Group is the world’s leading political risk advisory and consulting firm. Our mission is to assist investors, companies, foundations, and public-sector institutions anticipate the opportunities and manage the risks created by the impact of politics and policy on markets around the world.
We are seeking motivated students with strong programming or data science skills who are interested in global politics. Interns will work in the following business area: Macro-Geoeconomics team.
Data: Internships on the cross-functional data team supervised by our economic analysts will involve developing data analytics to identify and analyze the relationships between qualitative and quantitative economic and political data and market indicators. Interns in this role will be expected to help develop new tools and support existing tools used by Eurasia Group to quantify differences in how politics affects the business environment between countries. We are looking for individuals from a wide range of backgrounds with demonstrated quantitative and problem-solving skills. We value creativity, hard work, and on-the-job excellence. The ideal candidate is someone who is highly motivated and who seeks to take on a challenging role. Interns will provide support, including basic primary data analysis, as well as general administrative assistance.
Qualifications:
- Must be enrolled in an academic institution
- Academic experience with or interest in economics and/or politics
- Ability to analyze data independently
- Experience with R or Python code aimed at analyzing large datasets is essential. Understanding of stata is a bonus
- Experience with writing SQL queries to extract and transform data from relational databases or data warehouses
- Understanding of statistical principles
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, ability to coordinate across teams asynchronously
- In addition to being a self-starter able to work independently, you will bring a collaborative and team-oriented spirit.
- Comfort learning new technology and collaboration tools.
Timing:
- June 3- August 2, 40 hours a week (In order to be qualified for this internship, you must be able to attend the entirety of the program)
Location:
- Washington, DC, New York, São Paulo, London, or remote
Compensation
- This internship will be paid $16 an hour
