Summer Intern (Available June 3Rd, 2024 - August 23Rd, 2024)

Public Prep is the nation's first non-profit network that exclusively develops exceptional, tuition-free PreK and single-sex elementary and middle public schools. We are determined to graduate 8th grade scholars who thrive in "right-fit," high-performing public, private, or parochial high schools, and ultimately earn a degree, on-time, from a four-year college or university. The Public Prep Summer Internship is designed to provide recent interns with an overview of Public Preparatory Network's Home Office operations and its contribution to managing Public Preparatory Charter School Academies.

Our network is looking for interns who are interested in learning about non-profit business management and the inner workings of charter school management. The intern would have exposure to project-based learning and responsibilities across various departments of Public Prep's Home Office, these departments include but are not limited to talent/human resources, operations, finance, and academics. Projects will be assigned on an ongoing basis and, ideally, aligned to intern interests. The salary for this position is $22/hour. The schedule is Monday - Friday 10am-4pm. There will be dates that require an adjusted schedule/work hours but you will be notified in advance. 

This internship will operate in a hybrid setting, with both in-person and remote assignments. In-person work will be in Bronx, NY.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Working closely with various members of the Home Office Team to complete projects that will support the intern's development of knowledge around non-profit business management and their own technical/analytical skills. 
• Engage in the coordination of network-wide events (onboarding, recruitment, interview days, summer institute etc.).
• Ultimately complete a capstone project to be presented to intern supervisors and network leadersApply innovative and creative approaches to any assigned project.
• Additional tasks/projects, as assigned by supervisor

Physical Requirements

• Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, talk, hear, operate a computer and other office equipment, reach with hands and arms, and must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in Undergraduate studies, preferred
• Some experience in an office environment, preferred
• Experience with Microsoft Office Suite and Google online platform (i.e., Docs, Sheets, Slides)
• Solid organizational skills, attention to detail and able to learn new technologies/software quickly
• Ability to brainstorm for new ideas, whether it's with our team or individually
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Ability to be flexible and work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
