Day Camp Site Director

The YMCA of Northern Colorado is seeking staff to lead our Summer Day Camp programs as Site Directors. We are looking for welcoming, motivated, kid-experienced staff, who are 21 years or older. Our goal is for each child to enjoy safe adventures, make new friends and have amazing experiences every day. Come join our camp family for one of the most fun and rewarding summers of your life.

 

Salary range is $19-22/ hour based on experience and availability. In addition, we offer a +10% differential for bilingual staff who test as fluent in Spanish and English. Staff working more than 10 hours per week may sign up their children or siblings for free YMCA camp too! More about this in the benefits section.

 

Shifts vary between 7:00am and 5:30pm M-F. Part time and full time summer seasonal positions are available up to 40 hours a week. No weekends (except one required weekend training May 19th)! This position is seasonal May 28th through Aug 11th with training May 20-24th and we anticipate openings for the school year in our before and after school programs. If you do not qualify at Director level, please apply for another Day Camp opportunity; we can assist you in finding the right placement. Seasonal part time and full time opportunities exist.

Responsibilities

 

  • Engage campers and motivate staff for an amazing Day Camp experience.
  • Ensures high quality programs and plans new program activities.
  • Trains and schedules staff and volunteers as needed.
  • Ensures that YMCA program standards are met and safety procedures followed.
  • Develops and implements programming for their assigned site
  • Independently supervises all staff, provides appropriate direction and participates in all programming activities.
  • Adheres to program standards including CDHS licensing, safety and cleanliness
  • Attends staff meetings, trainings, association and site specific events as appropriate.
  • Follows and insures implementation of all YMCA emergency procedures, site-specific guidelines, recommended practices, pertinent standards and policies, and State regulations
  • Maintains an open, friendly, professional relationship with staff, parents, participants and community members.
  • Maintains confidentiality of YMCA issues, incidents and records
  • Is on time for all shifts; and is flexible to accommodate unexpected schedule changes, including full days.
  • Practices positive guidance and preventative discipline techniques to participants with natural consequences in accordance with YMCA policies, procedures and expectations.
  • Maintains regular and timely communication with supervisor concerning program and participant needs.
  • Maintain required records, staff files, child files, attendance records, and other necessary information.
  • Monitors and maintains site budget and purchase needed supplies and materials. 
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Qualifications

  • 21 years or older
  • CPR and First Aid certification (we can provide this).
  • AND have at least one of the following A four-year degree in a related field OR 48 semester hours of college credit AND 910 hours of experience in a licensed program since turning 18 OR 5640 hours of experience working directly with school-age children with a group of 4 or more unrelated school age children.

All Employees receive a free individual membership and anyone working 10+ hours receives a free family membership, 50-100% off our programs and if eligible, we contribute the equivalent of 10% of your salary to the YMCA Retirement Fund.

Full-time employees enjoy a minimum of 3 weeks of paid vacation, 88 hours of paid sick time, and 8 paid holidays per year. Free YMCA programs include: after-school programs, Camp NOCO traditional Day Camp, youth sports, learn to skate, and swim lessons. Discounted YMCA programs include: preschool, YMCA Camp Santa Maria overnight camp, personal training, and specialty summer camps. The Y offers generous medical, dental, and vision benefits. We provide long-term disability and life insurance at no cost to full-time employees.

Part-Time employees also receive paid sick time at 1 hour for every 30 hours worked.
