Come join our team!!! Our Summer Camp program starts in June (M-F, shift varies).
Summer Camp orientation training will be June 11th to the June 14th
Summer Camp officially starts on June 17th to August 2nd

Performs routine activities supporting the programs and participants of the city's youth Summer Camp. Work involves assisting with instruction of recreational, creative, and character development programs and monitoring the health and safety of campers.
Work is performed under close supervision with minimal latitude in the use of initiative and independent judgment. Reports to the Parks and Recreation Site Supervisor or designee.The essential functions listed are typical examples of work performed by positions in this job classification and are not designed to contain or be interpreted as a comprehensive inventory of all duties, tasks, and responsibilities. Specific duties and responsibilities may vary depending on department or program needs without changing the general nature and scope of the job or level of responsibility. Staff may also perform other duties as assigned.
Participates in and may plan arts and crafts and skill and character development activities, indoor and outdoor games, theme days and special events.
Facilitates a safe, engaging, and positive environment for children; presents, role models, and reinforces human relations skills; monitors campers' behaviors, safety, engagement, and adherence to rules.
Monitors the safety and health of campers; administers first aid for minor injuries as necessary; communicates with supervisors and caregivers regarding campers' accomplishments and behavior.
Maintains clean and orderly play, supply, and storage areas; distributes snacks and lunches as assigned; assists with camper drop-off and pick-up per established protocols.
Assists with planning and coordinating special events and off-site day trips and excursions for campers, attending as an adult chaperone to monitor the safety and health of campers.
Creates informational posters and fliers and decorations for programs and events.
Receives, reviews, prepares and/or submits a variety of reports, records, and data for routine and requested purposes.
Adheres to all city and public health and safety guidelines and protocols; performs job functions in a safe manner and reports all safety hazards per established policies and procedures.
Maintains quality communication and interaction with all city personnel, representatives from external organizations, and the public to maintain good will toward the city and to project a positive city image.
Maintains on-call work availability as assigned, to prepare for, respond to, or recover from a hurricane, tropical weather event, or other emergency to meet the city's obligation to remain operational before, during, and after the event; duties assigned may or may not be typical of the job and are contingent upon the needs of the city and the residents because of the event.
Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with those interacted with during work regardless of race, color, religious creed, national origin, ancestry, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, age, genetic information, disability, political affiliation, military service, or diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds.
Supervisory Responsibilities
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
High school diploma or GED required; supplemented by some experience participating in the instruction of activities for the public in a camp, school, or recreational program; or an equivalent combination of education, certification, training and/or experience.
Required Certifications and Licenses
May be required to possess and maintain a valid State of Florida Driver License and the ability to drive a city owned vehicle per established policies, procedures, and safety guidelines.
National Incident Management System (NIMS) training will be required (and sponsored) according to job duties and responsibilities.
First Aid and CPR training are required as part of the City of Tamarac's new hire onboarding for this position.
