Recreation Leader - Full Time

Do you love working with kids? The City of New Smyrna Beach - Leisure Services Department is now hiring for a Full TimeRecreation Leader!

We are looking for an energetic team member to oversee the children by helping them with homework and providing recreational programs to promote exercise.

Scheduled shifts will vary based off scheduled programs, events, and operational needs of Leisure Services Department.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

• Plans and supervises activities, camps, programs, and field trips for specific populations, utilizing available community resources.
• Plans and supervises neighborhood and community group activities which may include a variety of programs, dances, and arts and craftsssists Program Coordinator in supervision of youth and any necessary disciplinary actions or injury reporting of program participants.
• Issues and supervises use of equipment and materials.
• Responds to inquires from the public about specific programs.
• Conducts after school tutor program for specific populations.
• Assists in the organization and operation of leagues, tournaments, and special events.
• Operates the concessions in the center; responsible for related financial accountability.
• Receives fees and issues receipts to customers
• In absence of Program Coordinator or if designated by Coordinator, may act as a team leader with seasonal staff during seasonal youth camps.
• Performs light janitorial tasks and maintenance of facilities as needed. Assist in the maintenance of the general appearance and cleanliness of facilities.
• Performs other related duties as assigned
• Must be willing to work some weekends.

Must pass a Level II background, physical and drug test.
