Job description

Friends Academy Summer Programs is seeking Seasonal Summer Camp Positions for summer 2024. Candidates must commit to the entire summer. The program will take place June 24, 2024 to August 9, 2024. Monday through Friday 9:00am – 4:00pm daily.

Positions:

*Explorers Group Leader -Group Leaders will be responsible for creating a positive and engaging experience for a cohort of campers aged 3 to 7. This role is crucial in ensuring the well-being, safety, and enjoyment of campers. Group leaders will oversee their team of camp counselors and plan and lead a variety of age-appropriate activities, games, and crafts that will foster a sense of curiosity, creativity, and exploration in campers.

  • A minimum of 21 years old
  • Previous experience working with children aged 3 to 7
  • Patience, enthusiasm, and a genuine love for working with young children.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal
  • Ability to speak with families in a child positive manner
  • Basic knowledge of child development and behavior management.

*PathFinders & Trailblazers Instructors/Group Leaders-Seeking individuals with an interest to develop and facilitate unique week-long programs for students (ages 8 -13) in the following areas:

  • Cooking/Baking
  • Sports
  • Dance
  • Drama
  • Fashion
  • Music
  • Circus Skills
  • Flag Football
  • Youtube Content Creation
  • Rocketry
  • Science

Applicants must enjoy working with children. Program curriculum must include hands-on and engaging activities. Applicants should have excellent communication and classroom management skills.

Schedule: Monday through Friday, 9:00am - 4:00pm, Instructor may select which weeks they would like to work.

*Summer Scholars Tutor -Seeking enthusiastic and dedicated individuals to join our team as Summer Camp Tutors, helping campers build academic skills in an enjoyable and supportive environment.

  • Plan and implement age-appropriate and engaging educational activities that align with campers' interests and curriculum needs.
  • Provide One-on-One and Small Group Tutoring:
  • Conduct tutoring sessions in various subjects, including but not limited to math, language arts, science, and social studies.
  • Adapt teaching methods to meet the individual needs of campers.
  • Implement creative and interactive teaching techniques to make learning enjoyable.
  • Assess campers' academic strengths and areas for improvement,

Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.   • Bachelor's degree in Education or related field (current education students also welcome).
  • Previous tutoring or teaching experience with elementary or middle school-aged children.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Enthusiasm for creating engaging and interactive learning experiences.
  • Patience, adaptability, and a passion for working with children.

Schedule: Monday through Thursdays 8:00am - 9:30am. 30 minutes of prep per day.

Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and taste or smell. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and must be able to move across the campus. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. The ability to move around the campus.

Pay Range: Salary offers are based on factors that include years of experience, training/skills, internal peer equity, market and other organizational considerations. The salary range and/or hourly rate listed is a good faith determination of potential base compensation that may be offered to a successful applicant for this position at the time of this job advertisement and may be modified in the future.
