SUMMER CAMP COUNSELOR GENERAL FUNCTION: Under the direction of the Youth & Family Director the position supervises groups of children and implements YMCA activities.

SUMMER CAMP COUNSELOR ESSENTIAL DUTIES include the following:
(1) Leads and participates in group activities and performs related skills
(e.g., crafts, STEAM, sports, reading, and games).
(2) Follows YMCA Camp Standard Operating Procedures
(e.g., check-in/out of participants, parent greeting, cleaning and straightening of supplies in the area).
(3) Implements program activities and special events.
(4) Serves as a positive role model for program participants.
(5) Promotes safety as an overriding objective in all programming efforts.

SUMMER CAMP COUNSELOR ABUSE RISK MANAGEMENT FUNCTIONS:
1. Responds seriously and confidentially to reports of suspicious and inappropriate behaviors.
2. Follows mandated reporting requirements.
3. Communicates to all employees and volunteers the organization’s commitment to protect their consumers from abuse.

SUMMER CAMP COUNSELOR QUALIFICATIONS:

• Must be 16 years or older by May 23, 2024
• High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED); OR one to three months of related experience and/or training.
• This is an entry level position

SUMMER CAMP COUNSELOR CERTIFICATES, TRAININGS, REGISTRATIONS:

• Summer Camp Training - Mandatory training May 18th - May 23
• Current American Red Cross Certifications in CPR and First Aid within 30 days of hire

Job Type: Temporary

Pay: $12.00 - $14.00 per hour

Expected hours: 20 – 35 per week
