The Product Management team in Naples, FL is seeking graduate students for our Summer Associate Program. Students will be selected to work for one of the following product areas: Extremity & Trauma, Shoulder/Elbow, Imaging & Resection, Orthobiologics or Arthroplasty. This is an exciting opportunity for the high energy individual that would like to explore an opportunity in the orthopedics industry. Students will use their excellent communications, business and/or science background to experience the medical device business at its highest level. During the Summer Associate program, candidates will interact with all key departments that impact product development. The Summer Associate will possess an internal sense of urgency, passion and detail that is necessary when interacting with our primary customer, the orthopedic surgeon. This position will run from May 2024 - August 2024. The ideal candidate will have the availability to work 40 hours per week at our Naples, FL facility.
Main Objective:
To support Product Management team with primary and secondary research on key product development tasks, brand management support and the ability to use interpersonal skills with key surgeon customers and business stakeholders.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Research/Analyst:
- Conduct market research on existing and future product lines through secondary research sources.
- Conduct surveys, analyze findings, identify trends and format data for the Product Management team.
- Utilize Hospital Supply Index Database to gather competitor sales data and provide analysis on those competitive findings and trends and opportunities in the marketplace.
- Create and deliver PowerPoint presentations for internal teams to synthesize information, draw conclusions and describe recommendations for market development activities.
- Ability to verbally communicate and interact with engineering, Product Management, medical education, surgeon consultants and surgeon customers.
- Present a capstone project relating to one specific area of research or project management to senior Product Management team members.
- Successful completion could lead to consideration for the Product Management Development Program (PMDP) including one year sales rotation.
- Field travel when necessary (less than 5%).
Marketing:
- Work at the direction of Product Management/Product Marketing with Marketing Communications to produce and post marketing collateral.
- Ability to build PowerPoint presentations communicating data gathered during research.
- Help develop product demonstration models and training materials utilized for national industry meetings, and onsite surgeon and sales rep trainings.
Product Development:
- Participate in the product development process which may include interacting with all stakeholders in the Product Management process, either individually or with product manager.
- Work with product managers, engineers and consultant surgeons to help define product needs.
- Support labs utilizing cadaveric specimens in the evaluation and testing of surgical implants and instruments.
- Interact with business partners to complement product development needs and activities.
Education and Experience:
- Master's degree or PhD candidate required; MBA candidates preferred. (Students who have recently graduated are only eligible to work as a Summer Associate up to six months from their graduation date.)
- Experience in Medical Device Sales or Orthopedics highly preferred.
- An interest in brand management and gaining experience with surgical devices is critical to advancement in this program.
Knowledge and Skill Requirements/Specialized Courses and/or Training:
Intermediate to Expert computer skills. Be able to follow written and verbal direction. PowerPoint applications proficiency a plus.
Machine, Tools, and/or Equipment Skills:
PC; High proficiency with Microsoft Outlook; PowerPoint; Word and Excel. Fax; Scanner.
