What will you be doing?
As an Carrier Sales Intern, you will gain hands on experience and will be a part of the Carrier Sales department which works with transportation providers (carriers). With our extensive training and mentorship program, you will quickly become comfortable with the transportation industry, learn how to use the technology, how to build carrier relationships, and how to operate carrier portfolios. Once training is complete, you will be paired with a mentor that will coach you throughout the summer and share best practices. Throughout the internship program, you will learn about other departments and be introduced to key personnel to gain a holistic view of logistics.
Main Responsibilities:
- Assist a Carrier Sales mentor to learn daily responsibilities and gain hands on experience
- Prospect new trucking companies (carriers) through lead generation, research, and cold calling
- Build strong relationships with trucking company key contracts including dispatcher and drivers
- Obtain new business, negotiate, and strategically align your portfolio of carriers with our customers' freight
- Develop problem solving skills by escalating any issues and resolving incidents to ensure the shipments are serviced
- Ensure shipment details are accurately communicated to drivers and tracked in our transportation management system
- Collaborate with your mentor, communicate across department, and engage with leadership
- Attend the internship speaker series, internship events, and complete a business related project and presentation
- Other duties and projects, as assigned

Requirements
What we're looking for:
- Undergraduate education at a Junior level standing preferred
- Ambitious, sales minded individual who is eager to learn
- Team-oriented player
- Highly organized, excellent attention to detail, and ability to multitask
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, both written and verbal
