Substitute Teacher

The Rabbi Joseph Weinberg Early Childhood Center is seeking Substitute Teachers for our early childhood center for the 2023-24 School Year & 2024 Camp with options to start immediately. Substitutes will be called in as needed for a minimum of 4 hours.

The RJW ECC is a play-based, Jewish, social constructivist program that is inspired by the schools in Reggio Emilia, Italy. We are looking for experienced early childhood educators to partner with and guide learning for children ages 16 months-5 years who are dedicated to exploration, promote independence, and have a strong belief in the capabilities of children. The RJW ECC is located in Potomac, MD and operates M-F, 8am- 5:30pm during the school year, 8am- 5pm during the summer.

Responsibilities include:

· Supporting educators as needed to implement a developmentally appropriate, emergent and integrated curriculum.

· Helping each child to become aware of their role as an integral member of a group and creating an atmosphere of inclusion for students and their families.

· Integrating Jewish content and values in a meaningful and fluid manor throughout the classroom (Candidates do not need to have a Jewish background).

· Invited to participate in recommended training programs, conferences, courses, and other aspects of professional growth.

Qualifications and Skills:

· Candidates must have:
A college degree (AA/BA/BS) or higher or the equivalent coursework.

· Classroom experience working with children Toddlers-5 years old.

· A demonstrated understanding of children Toddlers-5 years old in social/emotional, language and literacy, cognitive, and physical development.

· Demonstrated professionalism, flexibility and reliability.

· Ability to work well in a team-environment.

· Friendly, engaged and willing to help the team of educators.

Job Types: Part-time, Contract

Pay: $20.00 per hour

Expected hours: 3 – 35 per week
