Essential Functions:
Develops, implements, monitors and maintains a comprehensive drug and alcohol Abuse Program
Develops treatment strategies and plans related to the inmates' needs
Coordinates intake interviews, needs assessments, treatment plans and counsels inmates with Substance Abuse issuesExamples of Work:
UNDER ADMINISTRATIVE SUPERVISION
Researches, develops, coordinates and implements inmate Substance Abuse counseling programs
Conducts intake interviews to assess inmate's need for treatment
Provides individual and group counseling to educate and assist inmates in recognizing and understanding the nature of the problem, to assess the need for treatment and to evaluate progress
Coordinates in-house meetings, activities and workshops to facilitate the recovery of inmates and to provide information regarding available services and programs
Develops and implements individualized treatment and recovery plans and recruits and oversees program volunteers
Confers with law enforcement agencies to determine inmate's legal status and develop appropriate discharge plans
Consults with representatives from community treatment programs and recovery facilities to determine the appropriate placement of inmates and to ensure continuity of care after release from custody
Prepares reports to document findings, recommendations and inmate progress; completes forms and maintains inmate records and charts according to established procedures, guidelines and legal requirements
Participates in case conferences with other health care professionals to discuss inmate care and progress

Physical Requirement & Working Conditions:
Meets regular and punctual attendance standards and any special needs of the position as determined by management, including mandatory overtime and performing related work
Minimum Requirements:
Associate degree

Related field
Two years of in-patient or inmate alcohol and drug counseling experience
Other Minimums:
Must not have been convicted of a felony
Misdemeanor convictions will be considered on an individual basis
Must submit to a pre-employment drug screening
Must submit to a pre-employment polygraph test
Must be vaccinated for hepatitis B, have provided evidence of immunity, or have signed a declination form within ten days of initial assignment
Must pass an annual tuberculin test
Equivalency:
An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted
Special Requirements:
Applicants and employees in positions which perform job duties that may require contact with offenders in the custody or supervision of the Department of Juvenile Justice or with youth in the care, custody or supervision of Youth Development
must meet qualifications pursuant to the federal Prison Rape Elimination Act, 28 CFR 115.17 and 115.317, to include periodic post-employment criminal background checks
