JOB PURPOSE
The Studio Broadcast Engineer role is responsible for supporting our live studio productions from the Riot Games Los Angeles Studio. Serving as an Engineer, you will be responsible for executing operations and support of both traditional and IP/2110 broadcast tools to meet production needs. Your expertise in baseband routing, IP and SMPTE 2110 workflows, NDI workflows, Cisco Meraki programming, intercom, audio consoles, Dante networks, Switchers, EVS, and graphic systems, will be crucial in delivering high value and exceptional quality for our internal production teams and customers at this facility. Our current workflows leverage both hardware-based infrastructure alongside software defined production tools for flexible technical solutions that push the boundaries of traditional Esports broadcasting to captivate and inspire fans worldwide.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Working with other Engineers to provide studio support for in-studio and remote productions.
- Working with Evertz Routers to manipulate audio and video signals using broadcast instruments and measurement tools to ensure desired outcome.
- Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair broadcast/production hardware, systems, and servers.
- Heavy support of software defined broadcast tools and IP protocols as well as NDI networks.
- Work varied schedules, including nights, weekends, and/or holidays.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- 6+ years of broadcast experience and/or an advanced degree.
- Experience in Esports broadcasts.
- Extensive knowledge of switchers, audio consoles, video routers, NDI workflows, EVS systems, intercom systems, Cisco Network and IP protocols, and transmission systems.
- Operate, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair complex electronic, computer based, optical and mechanical broadcast systems.
- Strong understanding of IP networks and 2110 workflows.
- Strong understanding of NDI system and workflows.
- Ability to provide constructive feedback around practices, tools, and methods related to production, broadcast, and post-production.
- Experience following engineering best practices within your team, including design reviews, standards implementation, automation reviews, tool improvements, source control management, and testing.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- CCNA level or equivalent experience level
- Cross Platform fluency, Familiarity with Lenux Mac and Windows systems, upgrading systems.
- Dante network Audio flows

- SMPTE 2110 Knowledge
- IP and networking experience (this role is heavy on IP system experience)
- Encoding and decoding
- Ability to work side by side with production.
- Familiarity with live event production in a broadcast team environment
- Knowledge of streaming, OTT technologies, protocols, and monitoring
- Outstanding technical problem solving and critical thinking skills.
- Experience working on a team supporting large, interconnected broadcast systems and designing scalable, production-ready architecture.
PHYSICAL QUALIFICATIONS
- Ability to sit, reach outward or above the shoulder, stand, walk, handle with fingers, stand, bend, and stoop.
- Ability to operate a keyboard, view a video display terminal screen, ability to use telephone equipment.
- Ability to lift up to 20 pounds and push or pull up to 25 pounds.
