QUALIFICATIONS:
High school diploma or equivalent; two years of clerical skills preferred; computer literacy (Apple/PC), excellent organization, interpersonal communication and time management skills required. The ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle highly confidential information appropriately and with tact and diplomacy.
REPORTS TO: Director of Special Education and Non Public Student Services
JOB GOAL: Assists teachers of students with visual disabilities by locating, ordering, distributing, storing, and preparing Braille and large print books, tests and materials, auditory materials and assistive technology; prepare Braille materials on site using traditional technology and computer technology; create specialized auditory tactile, and visual materials for sensory training and enhancement; train or arrange trainings for teachers, support specialists, parents and students in new and emerging technologies.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provides all necessary Braille, i.e. in Nemeth Code and Standard Braille.
Accurately reproduces graphics for Math in TGD Pro and/or by hand as a "hard copy''; accurately reproduces graphical maps.
Enlarges student materials in both black and white and color.
Assists with returns for broken equipment to vendors for repair.
Maintains accurate records for equipment warranties.
Accurately maintains current weekly schedules on assigned staff.
Sends out student books to PATTAN for enlarging and Braille in a timely manner.
Binds Braille and student textbooks.
Processes new inventory for the warehouse.
Maintains up to date technical skills including, but not limited to: TFAS, SharePoint, MFPs, Meeting Room Manager, Duxbury, Scientific Notebook, and TGD Pro, Megadots, various web tools and Microsoft Office Suite as required for position.
Works as a team player in the Special Education Department by assisting with duties on own initiative or when requested. Contributes to the effective team management of all problems, issues and opportunities.
Assume such other duties as may be assigned by the Program Director.
