Job Posting Summary
Under the direction of the Assistant Director of Student Services Support Center, the Counselor will assist in the processing of the daily activities and projects of the Student Services Support Center. SSSC will collaborate with Admissions, Recruiting, Business Operations, PACT, and Enrollment Services to ensure professional, efficient and compliant counseling of students. Along with the processing of student records, counselors will be conducting outreach calls and fielding incoming telephone calls, emails, and messages, responding to inquiries for potential, current and former students. The Counselor will further support the activities of the Assistant Director/Associate Director by assisting in training team members.
Essential Job Functions & Responsibilities:
  • Process daily workflow of the Student Services Support Center; assist in the completions of projects and assignments, in an organized and consistent manner as outlined by the Vice President of Enrollment Management.
  • Ensure accurate and efficient processing of admissions documents; ensure timely, accurate, and professional responsiveness of call center operations.
  • Demonstrate general knowledge of department of education regulations related to admissions, registration, enrollment, and financial aid. Participate in training to keep abreast of ever changing federal, state, and institutional regulations and policies; ensure institutional policies and procedures are updated on a regular and consistent basis; ensure supporting staff are trained as regulations are updated.
  • Participate in technical training to broaden staff capabilities in the area of computer automation.
  • Cover campuses as assigned; follow up on student records and processing requests; support recruiting efforts by moving students along in the admissions process; create an overall positive experience for student and/or student family.
  • Perform various tasks as assigned for Enrollment Management activities, such as: Open House, Accepted Students Days, Scholarship Events, etc.
  • Attend all departmental staff meetings and training sessions.
  • Counselors on each team will be responsible for completion of daily tasks. Contact Team Counselors will ensure the admission letter process is complete including auditing, printing, and mailing as well manage the workflow of the external admissions inbox. Transfer Team Counselors will manage the workflow of the internal transfer inbox, as well as complete the final transcript check for graduation. Admission Processing Counselors will ensure online admissions applications have been processed daily through the proper systems, while monitoring Xtender and confirming all documents are received by the SSSC office in a timely manner. They also manage the workflow of the internal processing inbox.
  • Perform other duties and projects as assigned.

Qualifications
Required Skills & Experience:
  • Knowledge of Banner, a CRM system, Xtender, and Degree Works preferred.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal, written and oral communication, problem-solving, organizational, and presentation skills.
  • Evidence of detail-orientation, customer service orientation, ability to work independently and as a team, and ability to manage great levels of responsibility preferred.
  • Bi-lingual (Spanish) a plus.
  • Minimum of one to two years of higher education experience or equivalent work experience preferred. Admissions/financial aid/bursar experience a plus.
Education Requirements:
  • Associate's degree required, Bachelor's degree preferred.
Physical/Other Requirements:
  • Travel between campuses is required.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and evenings as required.
  • Must be able to push, pull, move or lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to meet all general health requirements for the position as per university policies
Compensation offered will be commensurate with the educational background and work experience of the individual.

The Mercy University Retirement Plan is comprised of two components:
Deferred Compensation Plan
All eligible employees may contribute to the Deferred Compensation Plan on a pre-tax basis upon joining the University.
Defined Contribution Plan
Eligible employees are enrolled in the Defined Contribution Plan after two (2) years of full-time employment at Mercy University and receive a semi-monthly contribution from the College, based on age and salary. If an employee is under age 36, they will receive a contribution of 3.3% of their annual salary each pay period. If an employee is age 36 or older, they will receive a contribution of 9% of their annual salary each pay period.
If employed full-time for two (2) or more consecutive years by another institution(s) of higher education (college or university), without an intervening break in service within the last twelve (12) months prior to employment before joining Mercy, please submit a waiting period waiver form to Office of Human Resources. The Defined Contribution will begin as of the first day of the month following receipt of the completed waiver form.
