Job Summary: The Structural Welder is an integral part of our team, contributing to the fabrication, installation, and welding of Cable Tray Bridges and miscellaneous steel structures. This role involves interpreting blueprints, selecting appropriate welding techniques, and producing high-quality welds in a dynamic and challenging environment. The Structural Welder collaborates with a team to complete tasks such as fabricating bridges, installing bridges, working on columns, performing field welds, and ensuring accurate bolt-ups.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Interpret and analyze blueprints and specifications to determine welding requirements.
  • Perform welding tasks on structural components, including fabricating bridges, installing bridges, and working on columns, using various welding techniques such as MIG, TIG, and arc welding.
  • Inspect and assess the quality of welds, ensuring they meet industry standards, project specifications, and the demands of a significant steel job.
  • Collaborate closely with team members, including fabricators and engineers, to achieve project goals.
  • Operate and maintain welding equipment and tools in a safe and efficient manner, adhering to TappiSafe Basic & Site Specific safety guidelines.
  • Conduct preventive maintenance on welding equipment to ensure optimal performance and longevity.
  • Adhere rigorously to safety protocols and regulations, maintaining a safe working environment for oneself and team members.
  • Participate actively in quality control processes and inspections to identify and address potential issues.
  • Complete documentation, including work logs and inspection reports, accurately and promptly.
Requirements:

Essential qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a Structural Welder or in a similar role.
  • Proficient in various welding techniques, including MIG, TIG, and arc welding.
  • Ability to interpret blueprints and specifications accurately, particularly those related to Cable Tray Bridges and miscellaneous steel structures.
  • Knowledge of welding safety protocols and procedures, emphasizing TappiSafe Basic & Site Specific requirements.
  • Familiarity with different types of metals and alloys.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high-quality craftsmanship.
  • Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Welding certification from a recognized institution.
  • Additional vocational training in welding or a related field.
  • Previous experience working on large-scale construction projects including Cable Tray Bridges and miscellaneous steel structures.
  • Familiarity with relevant industry standards and codes specific to Cable Tray Bridges and miscellaneous steel fabrication.
  • Ability to operate and maintain welding equipment efficiently.
