Southern Steel Engineers, located in Lexington, SC is looking for an enthusiastic and skilled structural engineer to join our team and continue to help grow our company. SSE utilizes state of the art structural engineering programs including finite element analysis as well as custom developed in-house calculations to provide efficient and well-designed solutions on our projects. The ideal candidate is a skilled structural engineer with either experience with steel design or an enthusiastic attitude towards learning steel design. We are looking to grow our team with either an entry-level engineer and will tailor the role towards the candidates skillset.
Role & Responsibilities
- Entry-level structural engineering position with the ability to grow within the company
- Primary responsibilities will include structural analysis, drafting and project management for steel connection design projects
- Additional Responsibilities include calculation development, steel shop drawing reviews, submittal preparation, RFI development and new calculation development to enhance efficiencies
- Potential responsibilities could include working on miscellaneous steel design, steel structure design and erection engineering projects, based on the candidate’s level of experience in these areas
- Use of analysis programs such as MathCAD, Excel, Idea Statica and Ram Elements
- Review of 3-D BIM models with Trimble Connect to aid in connection design and shop drawing reviews
- Project management responsibilities will be determined by candidate’s experience level
- Position is located in our Lexington, SC office
Requirements and Skills
- B.S. in Civil Engineering or equivalent
- Candidate should have either passed the FE exam or plan to pass in the immediate future
- Excellent communication skills are required, both verbally and written
- Enthusiasm and desire to succeed and develop technical skills
- Attention to detail, logical problem-solving skills, and strong organizational skills
- Software skills with any of the following are a plus: Revit, MathCAD, Excel, Ram Elements, Idea Statica, BlueBeam or Trimble Connect
- Passion for steel design and growing professional knowledge and skills around steel design and steel fabrication
