Description:

Propulsion South Carolina Thermal Analysis Engineer
Defines requirements for propulsion systems, auxiliary power systems and vehicle fuel and tank systems. Defines, coordinates and controls the functional and physical interfaces between the propulsion system and the vehicle. Develops specifications and architectural and configuration concepts for associated vehicle systems to meet customer and regulatory requirements. Configures or designs propulsion sub-systems and components to meet all vehicle design and performance criteria. Uses various testing, analysis, modeling and simulation tools to estimate or calculate system performance. Defines and performs certification tests for propulsion sub-systems and components. Supports fielded systems to assure continued reliability. Develops concepts for future propulsion systems to meet anticipated requirements. Works under general direction.
Company is currently looking for an experienced Thermal Analysis Engineer to join the Propulsion South Carolina (PSC) Engineering Team located in North Charleston, SC. The PSC team provides the engineering support and development of Nacelle components for current and future airplane program needs. This position would join a team of thermal analyst currently working detailed thermal analysis in support of these program development and sustaining needs.
Job Responsibilities:
Create detailed Finite Element Models for thermal analysis
Ability to apply heat transfer principles to solve challenging problems in a complex thermal environment
Support design teams with thermal input data to aid in maturing configuration and designs
Provide thermal analytical support for testing and certification efforts including root cause and corrective action activities
Write and review detailed thermal analysis reports
Support trade studies required in order to achieve optimal solutions
Coordinate with multiple engineering disciplines across the Integrated Product Team (IPT)
Skills & Qualifications:
5 or more years experience in a similar role in field of Propulsion and Aerospace
Bachelor's Degree or Higher in Engineering; Mechanical or Aerospace
Excellent communication skills; ability to clearly communicate verbally and written is required
Self-motivated and willing to work in a highly dynamic, team oriented atmosphere
Must be able to support multiple concurrent projects in support of key milestones
Strong interpersonal skills
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with Thermal Desktop and Sinda
Experience with meshing software such as Hypermesh and/or Ansys
Experience with Propulsion Nacelle hardware
Experience with 1D flow network analysis
Experience with programming such as Python, VBA or Matlab
HM is open to bringing in a contractor in a level 4 job code, if the experience is right; Level 4 would be 9+ years experience in the listed qualifications.
Currently working a hybrid schedule with a requirement of at least 2 days in office; subject to change at manager discretion or changes in CDC guidelines
