ASSA ABLOY ENTRANCE SYSTEMS (HLAD)  is seeking an ambitious and self-driven Strategic Sourcing Manager.  The successful candidate will be able to appraise and improve our sourcing activities by analyzing the company's spending, supplying partnerships, and new possibilities.

 

As the Strategic Sourcing Manager, you will engage key stakeholders and facilitate the development of the local business unit supply chain strategy.  Principle duties will include maintaining the procurement policy as well as all company policies that are related to the Supply Chain. Manage material groups [commodities] in the respective regional business corridor and/or per facility. Identify and select suppliers and establish supply chain agreements and contracts, which will require excellent supplier management (monitor and measure supplier performance with respect to cost, quality, delivery matrix, value-adding impact for the business, etc.).  Identify and drive continuous improvement initiatives to increase supply chain performance and capabilities, as well as to deliver the budgeted productivity.

Drive and own costs for the plant, Direct and Indirect spending within the local business unit.  Own cost reduction, simplification, and supplier consolidation projects within the local business unit. Lead and coordinate projects and deliver plant targets by leveraging VA/VE methodology. Serve as the technical bridge between Sourcing, Product Management, and Engineering on complexity reduction, product optimization, and supplier reduction. Manage a team of local buyers to ensure inventory levels, vendor on-time delivery, and vendor quality expectations are met.

 

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work with leadership teams to create a system for sourcing door components, such as but not limited to drives, controls, mechanical systems, pre-manufactured modules, metals, and plastics.
  • Manage sourcing expenditures and supplier relationships.
  • Assess purchases from individual suppliers and product families and negotiate broader supply chain agreements as appropriate.
  • Develop and implement quality control, performance measurement, and audit processes for new and current suppliers.
  • Conduct on-site assessments of all strategic suppliers and drive supplier improvement programs.
  • Work cross-functionally to balance forecast customer demand with inventory levels to reduce inventory and customer lead times.
  • Continuously research, identify and lead technical and business evaluations of potential new global and local supply chain solutions.
  • Get proactively involved and provide qualified supply chain management support to product development programs and position suppliers as appropriate to support transitions to production.
  • Build and maintain Key Performance Indicators for supply chain processes, including benchmarking.
  • Work in close cooperation with cross-functional work teams in the development process and life cycle management.
  • Demonstrate excellent leadership and project management skills.
  • Savings- Access and create a 3-year cost savings & VA/VE pipeline for the plant with support from R&D, Operations, and Product Management.
  • Support supplier consolidation - evaluate technical commonalities for consolidation in coordination with Engineering.
  • Serve as a local specialist for VA/VE.
  • Liaise with AAES and Category Management to bring best sourcing practices to the local business unit.

Education and/or Experience:

  • Recommended Bachelor's degree in a technical field or related experience in Supply Chain Management or manufacturing.
  • Experience in dealing with technical projects would be a plus (understanding materials, manufacturing processes, packing equipment, quality assurance systems, supplier-driven projects, insourcing/outsourcing, and project management)
  • Experience managing similar category commodities is a plus (buy strategies, market trend tracking, etc.).

 

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Work is performed in an office environment and requires the ability to operate standard office equipment and keyboards.
  • This role has limited international travel but travels within North America (20- 30%).   The candidate needs to be willing and able to travel as needed to achieve the allocated targets.
