Description
The strategic-minded accountant is responsible for the financial operations of the company. You will be tasked with overseeing our financial records and accounting to ensure accuracy, mitigate risk, improve forecasting and budgeting, as well as maintaining compliance. In addition to establishing, monitoring, and enforcing internal controls, we will also look to you for financial reporting.
Responsibilities
• Maintains and enforces a documented system of accounting policies and procedures
• Manage outsourced functions
• Preparing financial documents such as business reports, financial forecasts, and statements to understand the financial state of business
• Determining ways to reduce costs
• Managing daily accounting tasks such as processing payroll and managing accounts payables and accounts receivables
• Having say in financial decisions, such as budgeting, reporting, and risk management in a small business
• Collecting and consolidating financial data
• Creating strategic plans for financial operations
• Ensuring compliance with applicable rules, laws, and regulations
• Manages one direct report
Transactions
• Ensure that accounts payables are paid in a timely manner
• Ensure that all reasonable discounts are taken on accounts payable
• Ensure that accounts receivable are collected promptly
• Ensure that periodic bank reconciliations are completed
• Ensure that required debt payments are made on a timely basis
• Maintain a system of controls over accounting transactions
Reporting
• Issue timely, accurate, and complete financial statements both internal and external
• Recommend benchmarks to measure the performance of the company
• Calculate and issue financial and operating metrics
• Manage the production of the annual budget and forecasts
• Calculate variances from the budget and report significant issues to management
• Provide a system of management cost reports
• Provide financial analyses as needed for capital investments, pricing decisions, and contract negotiations
Compliance
• Coordinate the provision of information to President and Regional Managers
• Comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings
Work location
This is a hybrid role, with the location being both WFH and our North Charleston home office. You will be expected to travel as needed to the company home office.
Hours
10-20 hours per week initially, and once trained, you can expect more hours leading into a full-time position.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in accounting or business administration, or equivalent business experience and 4+ years of progressively responsible experience. Preference will be given to candidates with the CPA or CMA designations. Experience with NetSuite and/or Sage accounting is a HUGE plus. Insurance agency background is also a plus.
Salary Description
$62,400 - $83,200
