Greater Dayton Surgery Center is an ambulatory surgery center specializing in a variety of outpatient orthopedic procedures including total joint replacement, spine surgery, arthroscopic surgery, sports medicine procedures, hand surgery, foot & ankle surgery, and pain injections.
We are seeking an energetic, skilled, and experienced Sterile Processing Technician to join our fast-paced team.
The successful candidate will work to ensure surgical instrumentation is cleaned and sterilized appropriately and efficiently. He or she will exhibit an understanding of sterilization procedures and orthopedic surgical instrumentation, applying this knowledge to provide the surgical team with the tools essential to perform scheduled surgeries.
The ideal candidate also has experience scrubbing in and assisting in surgery (as a second tech...holding retractors, assisting in surgical site closure, etc.) and will sometimes be utilized in the role of secondary surgical technician.
This position is Part Time (approximately 24 hours/week), but the ideal candidate with experience scrubbing in and assisting in surgery may be offered a hybrid Full Time position (40 hours/week--scheduled in Sterile Processing and/or assisting in surgical cases, dependent upon the needs of the day), which would consist of 8 hour shifts (5 days).

Salary :
- Negotiable and based upon Sterile Processing experience and whether candidate has CRCST certification (pay range starts at $18/hour).
- Ability to work in both processing and in the surgical technician role will result in a higher hourly rate.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 1 Year Sterile Processing/Central Sterile Supply experience
- CRCST (Certified Registered Central Service Technician) certification preferred (Company will pay for certification if chosen candidate successfully completes after hire)
- CPR certified (or successful completion upon hire--paid for by company)
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced work environment
- Familiarity with sterilization processes and equipment
- Familiarity with orthopedic surgical instrumentation
- Understanding of sterile technique and sterile field
- Experience scrubbing in for and assisting with surgical procedures (preferred)
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills (Position requires continual communication with other processing staff, OR staff, management, and company representatives to ensure availability of necessary instrumentation for scheduled surgeries.)
Responsibilities:
- Decontaminate and wash surgical instrumentation at the completion of each surgical procedure
- Inspect instrumentation to assure in good working order
- Reassemble instrument sets and wrap or peel pack, as appropriate
- Operate sterilizers to complete sterilization of instrumentation and document contents of each load, filing accordingly
- Work with materials manager to order and assure availability of supplies used in Sterile Processing department
- Communicate with other processing staff, OR staff, management, and company representatives to ensure availability of necessary instrumentation for scheduled surgeries
- Utilize sterile technique to scrub in for and assist in surgical procedures (when more than one surgical technician is needed in a case).
