JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Scheduled Weekly Hours: 40
WORK SHIFT: Evening shift, Mon - Fri, rotating weekend/holiday call
JOB SUMMARY:
Demonstrates competence in all aspects of Sterile Processing: decontamination, preparation, packaging, sterilization, sterile storage, and distribution of sterile medical devices. Responsible for safe handling and care of equipment, instruments, and supplies. Tests, monitors and operates all Sterile Processing sterilizers.
May also be responsible for pulling instruments and supplies for case carts for scheduled surgical cases and for performing certain limited duties in the OR such as opening cases and/or functioning as a second scrub.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Surgical Technologist graduate. Knowledge of Federal, State and National Standards of Practice.
Graduate of an accredited school of Surgical Technology or equivalent military training program. Surgical Technologist with experience of the perioperative and intraoperative processes, preferred.
Sterile Processing certification (CBSPDT or CRCST) required within 6 months of hire.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Must possess good physical health. Some requirements include but are not limited to standing, sitting or walking for long periods of time. Lifting at least 50 pounds is required. Must be able to work with a moderate level of noise.
Physical Effort required:
Constant (67%-100%) - handling/feeling, talking, hearing, seeing
Frequently (34%-66%) - lifting, carrying, pushing/pulling, reaching
Occasionally (1%-33%) - climbing (stairs, ladders, etc.), balancing, stooping, crouching
