Holyoke Community College Summer Camp Instructor Position: Digital Arts, Technology & STEM

Are you passionate about Tech Education, Video Games, Coding, Roblox™, Minecraft™ or STEM? HCC, in conjunction with Black Rocket Productions, is seeking enthusiastic, motivated and talented individuals to work as Lead Instructors to help teach exciting classes like Minecraft, Code Breakers, & Roblox Coders!

• Summer seasonal position (4 weeks)
• In-room with kids ages 8-14
• Comprehensive training!
• No formal experience required
• Spend the summer with our AMAZING students having fun with technology!

General Requirements:

• Located within commuting distance of Holyoke, MA and have a reliable form of transportation
• Experience with children in an educational setting preferred but not required
• Strong technology skills are preferred, such as 3D modeling, coding, game creation or design, animation, robotics, modifying games, video editing, competitive gaming, significant knowledge of Minecraft or Roblox, etc.
• Available to complete online training between May and July (Train at your own pace.)
• Must be authorized to work in the United States. We are unable to offer accommodations or work sponsorship.
• Must be available to work a minimum of 4 weeks, Monday through Friday

Lead Instructor Requirements:

• 21 years of age or older
• College graduates with a degree in education, digital arts, computer science, information technology or related fields and/or significant relevant work experience are ideal. College seniors with experience with groups of kids are also encouraged to apply.
• Experience teaching kids is not required, but the ideal candidate will have some experience with kids in a formal or informal setting (classroom, volunteering, childcare, tutoring, coaching, etc.)
• Ability to lead a class of up to 12 kids solo and 22 kids with an assistant in a technology setting
• Rate: $35 - $45/hour for a Lead Instructor
• Ability to manage and safely transfer equipment as needed for various classes

Experience and Skills
Qualifications for Lead Instructor:

• Minimum of a completed Bachelor's degree
• Teaching Certification preferred, but not required
• Teaching experience is preferred, but not required

Duties of our Instructors include, but are not limited to:

1. Prepare adequately by reviewing and internalizing the prepared curricula for the courses to be taught.
2. Prepare for and deliver multiple rotations of BRP curriculum per day to groups of up to ~22 campers.
3. Familiarize oneself with the necessary software in order to educate and utilize in the classroom.
4. Implement the curriculum as written, adapting it as needed to improve the camper experience or accommodate individual campers.
5. Provide leadership, energy and camp spirit, constantly assessing group dynamics and the needs of individual campers.
6. Supervise Assistant Instructors working in your program area and inspire them to become excellent instructors.
7. Establish and maintain standards of student behavior needed to achieve a functional learning atmosphere in and outside the classroom.

Job Benefits
$35 - $45/hour for a Lead Instructor position
