Role Definition
- Lead and supervise the staff responsible for insurance statutory financial reporting for government and government related agencies.
- Provide oversight of timely and accurate monthly, quarterly and annual regulatory reporting and requirement, quarterly and annual reporting.
- Ensures adherence to working knowledge of insurance specific reporting for insurance and US GAAP. Coordinates and manages external and regulatory audits for financial reporting related activities.
Responsibilities
- Producing accurate and timely financial reports, for internal and external use, in accordance with GAAP and in compliance with section 404 of Sarbanes-Oxley Act.
- Preparing or leading preparation of reports which summarize and forecast business activity and financial position in areas of income, expenses, and earnings, based on past, present and expected operations.
- Ensuring the accounting policies and practices of the organization are followed; working closely with internal auditors, public accountants, federal tax examiners, and other financial professionals ensuring that practices are in line with the overall goals of the organization.
- Overseeing and evaluating the activities of the accounting staff, and providing for their professional development; analyzing and solving accounting problems.
- Manages the resources to complete financial reporting quarterly and annual regulatory filings.
- Ensures the completion of government related agencies payments and fees are made timely and accurate.
- Manages and coordinates the annual external audit and the state licensed recurring audit every three years.
- Provide full oversight of insurance regulatory reporting.
Job Requirements
- Knowledge of techniques and tools that promote effective analysis to determine the root cause of organizational problems and create alternative solutions that resolve these problems.
- Advanced knowledge of and ability to industry specific reporting for regulatory reporting.
- Provide strong relationship management techniques to establish and maintain healthy working relationships with internal and external partners.
- Provide strong decision-making process to carefully evaluate the impact of emerging business situations and choose the best path forward communicating actions and activities that maximize organizational performance.
- Be and expert in the processes involved in managing people to lead successful teams, and diligently address issues related to performance and conflicts at the workplace.
- Thorough knowledge of accounting methods, processes, and tools; ability to maintain and prepare financial statements and reports using accounting methods and processes.
- Provide expertise on utilizing tools and approaches of financial analysis with an ability to read, interpret and draw accurate conclusions from financial and numerical material.
- Strong ability to implement processes, methods, and tools of financial reporting; ability to create and maintain accurate and thorough financial reports.
- Knowledge of Insurance operations.
- Accurate and timely financial reporting internal or external.
- Demonstrate ability to use the Oracle.
- Demonstrated knowledge of US GAAP
Degree Requirement
- A 4-year college or university degree in accounting or a relevant business discipline and a minimum of 6 years progressive exempt experience in a thorough knowledge of the financial accounting activities including insurance services.
- CPA/CMA preferred.
Additional Information:
- This role is a hybrid position and would require any successful candidate to commit to a 3 day per week in office requirement.
