The Health Facility Commission (HFC) is responsible for ensuring health care facilities and services are developed in a manner that maintains essential services for all Tennesseans and encourages access and competition while preventing unnecessary health care services and costs through the Certificate of Need (CON) Program.

Job Overview:

As the State Trauma System Assistant Director, you will play a critical role in managing and improving the TRAUMA SYSTEM within Tennessee. You will work closely with the State Trauma System Director and other stakeholders to develop and implement policies and procedures, coordinate system-wide initiatives, and ensure compliance with regulatory standards. Your role will involve collaboration with healthcare professionals, government agencies, and community organizations to optimize trauma care delivery to improve patient outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

Program Development and Management:

Assist the State Trauma System Director in the development, implementation, and evaluation of the STATE TRAUMA SYSTEM.

Contribute to the formulation of trauma care policies, protocols, and guidelines in accordance with national and state standards.

Coordinate with trauma centers, and healthcare providers to ensure adherence to established standards and best practices.


Regulatory Compliance and Accreditation:

Monitor and ensure compliance with state regulations pertaining to trauma care, including any guidelines set by accrediting bodies.

Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to prepare for trauma center verification or designation surveys.

Participation in STATE TRAUMA center provisional and full designation reviews as well as American College of Surgeons verification reviews.

Assist in the coordination of trauma data collection, analysis, and reporting:

Monitors trauma registry submissions from trauma centers and comprehensive regional pediatric centers to ensure submissions are within trauma rule timelines for receipt.

Generates and prepares statistical illustrations from trauma registry data for the annual legislative trauma care in Tennessee report.

Provides technical assistance to new and existing trauma centers and CRPC's regarding the trauma registry submission process.


Stakeholder Engagement and Collaboration:

Foster collaborative relationships with trauma center staff, EMS agencies, healthcare providers, and other stakeholders within the STATE TRAUMA SYSTEM.

Represent the STATE TRAUMA SYSTEM in meetings, committees, and working groups at the local, state, and national levels.

Collaborate with community organizations, public health agencies, and advocacy groups to promote trauma prevention, awareness, and education initiatives.

Minimum Qualifications:

Associate or bachelor's degree in nursing, prehospital care, healthcare administration, public health or a related field.

Experience in trauma care, preferably in a leadership or management role.

Knowledge of TRAUMA SYSTEMs, trauma center verification or designation processes, and regulatory requirements is preferred.

Understanding of trauma care standards, guidelines, and best practices.

Strong communication and interpersonal abilities, with the capability to engage and collaborate with diverse stakeholders.
