About the role
Luther Seminary seeks a visiting Instructor for a Starting New ChristianChristian Communities cohort program that is being started in 2024. This position involves teaching and working with students in the program as well as contributing to Faith+Lead (Luther Seminary's non-degree learning ecology).
What you"ll do
Responsibilities (each area is approximately ? of the role)
Teach at least one course/year in the academic program (MA/MDiv/Certificate level) within the Starting New Christian Communities curriculum (in the areas of church planting, evangelism, fresh expressions, equipping lay disciples, missional theology/ecclesiology, or innovation) (40 hours of instruction+ 20 prep+ 10 grading + 10 student interaction=80 hours)
Contribute leadership to co-curricular learning experiences for the Starting New Christian Communities cohort (this could lead retreats, providing online workshops or coaching) (80 hours)
Qualifications
Personal experience in church planting or leading new Christian communities with a demonstrated track record of effectiveness
Master's degree in theology (MA or MDiv). Preference for a DMin or PhD.
At least a decade of church ministry experience (paid or unpaid)
Ability to work with an ecumenical and intercultural community of learners
Demonstrated experience as a teacher or trainer equipping ministry leaders
Ability to reflect on contextual and cultural realities in today's missionary environments
Ability to travel to Luther's campus 1-2 times/year.
This is a 20/hour per month contract position (approximately quarter time), fluctuating depending on the time of year. $25,000/year for two years. Benefits are not included. Travel will be reimbursed.
Summer 2024 start. The contract is for 24 months, with the possibility of renewal.
