Summary

The Staff Instructor, under the supervision of the Director and Assistant Director, will facilitate and teach core academic courses in Science at Upward Bound. Courses are designed to provide participants with the rigorous academic skills, study habits, and discipline necessary for success at the post-secondary level. The curriculum and the development of the course will be based on national standards and metrics of college readiness with an emphasis in project-based learning. In addition, instructors will assist in the role of a college coach and work with participants on college readiness skills on area of college applications, financial literacy, 21st century soft skills, ACT review, and other necessary components. These components are designed to ease the transition from secondary to post-secondary education. 

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in an education related field and 2 years of teaching experience in the core academic area of Science. 

Preferred Qualifications

• Certification in specific content area.
• Experience working with at-risk youth.
