Purpose of Position:
The Staff Geologist (GIT) is an entry to mid level position for a person who has completed a degree in geology or geologic engineering and who has 1 to 3 years of experience. Preference will be given to hydrogeologic experience
Job Description/Responsibilities:
Under close supervision performs a variety of tasks, including:
- Input of data into pre-written computer programs
- Operates computer and runs reports or calculations.
- Designs portions of a project.
- Prepares environmental impact and other administrative reports required for project permits.
- May prepare the drawings of designs he or she has originated (will not draft the designs of others).
- Works with clients on a limited basis under the direction and supervision of Project Manager.
- Performs field geologic engineering and quality control.
- Conducts field reconnaissance.
- Participates in weekly staff meetings to receive assignments and coordinate drafting needs
- Learns field geologic technologies and becomes familiar with all instruments and methodologies, .
- Becomes proficient in AutoCAD.
- Becomes proficient in cost estimating.
- Support Engineering staff with engineering design
- Completes groundwater modeling and analyses
- prepare project manuals for bidding of construction projects
Limits of Authority:
All functions are closely reviewed and authorized by others.
Relationship to Others:
Works for the Project Manager, and works closely with other staff
Education and Experience Required:
Has a bachelor’s degree in geology or geologic engineering, may have 1 to 3 years of professional experience. Computer knowledge essential
