Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- The ATLAS Indianapolis office is seeking a Staff Engineer to support the Landfill Group
- Provide hydrologic/hydraulic capabilities for landfill designs, pond closure designs, dam inspections, surface water quality and quantity investigations, flood plain encroachment studies, channel and culvert analyses and designs, and detention/retention pond designs
- Basic experience in National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) issues to various industrial facilities, including Individual and General permit preparation associated with storm water and construction activities (IDEM Rule 5 Rule 6), Storm Water Pollution Prevention (SWP3) Plan development and storm water discharge measurement and sampling
- Complete field work and write summary reports as-needed
- Assist in the development of Spill Prevention Control and Countermeasures (SPCC) Plans for industrial facilities and Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plans (SWP3)
- Assist project managers in obtaining Construction in a Floodway permits from the IDNR-DOW, as well as Storm Water Drainage Permits from cities/counties in Indiana
- Work with federal, state, and local government agencies
- Assist in the development of grading plans and construction specifications
Requirements
Minimum Requirements:
- Ability to work outside with minimal direction
- Must be able to lift and carry at least 25 pounds
- Minimum 1-3 years of experience in water resource engineering, NPDES environmental compliance and permitting (wastewater stormwater), and waste management
- B.S. in Civil Engineering or Environmental Engineering
Technical Requirements:
- Desire to become a Professional Engineer in Indiana
- Experience with or willingness to learn HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, SWMM and HydroCad models
- Clear, detailed, well organized technical writing
- Demonstrated technical and quantitative aptitude
- Proficient with Microsoft word and excel software
- Must be safety conscious and able to comply with Atlas's rigorous safety standards
- Should be highly organized, possess good written and verbal communication skills with attention to detail
- Must have a valid driver's license
- Must have basic computer skills and be able to use basic Microsoft programs such as WORD, EXCEL and Outlook
Other miscellaneous qualities:
- Travel usually within the State of Indiana but not always - 20%
- 40 Hour HAZWOPER training with current 8-hour refreshers
