The incumbent of this position is required to have a valid Florida License and will be required to works some nights and weekend.


Your Specific Responsibilities:


The incumbent in this position performs a combination of clerical work and health screening services within the Personal Health Section assigned to Florida Department of Health in Seminole County, School Health Program. The duties will be performed in the office and in school settings in Seminole County. This is a full-time position. In the event of an emergency this office may be required to perform emergency operation functions.


Coordinates with school personnel via phone calls and e-mails, the scheduling of all mandated public school screenings in elementary and middle schools. Develops and updates school screening schedules in Outlook calendar for the school year and maintains screening team and Program Manager informed of updates and changes in schedule. Works with screening team to schedule make-up screening dates. Communicates with school personnel to ensure availability of room school schedule, student information labels, screening times and other requirements are met prior to screening day. Prepares and ensures screening supplies (i.e., forms, screening equipment, student rosters, etc.) are ready for screening day in collaboration with screening team. Maintains communication with school district IT unit to ensure student rosters are received, reviews rosters for accuracy of information, and prepares the rosters for screenings.


Works with screening team as needed to perform health screenings, enter screening data into electronic systems (i.e., HMS, SHIP, Excel, etc.), and health education activities for public and nonpublic schools. These screenings consist of, but not limited to, growth and development assessments, dental, vision, hearing, scoliosis, nutritional assessments. Trains to use, calibrates and maintains screening equipment. Participates in outreach activities representing the School Health Program, including but not limited to health fairs, health education events, back to school immunizations, school health events among others. Delivers information to schools as needed. Maintains good communication with school liaisons.


Processes all incoming and outgoing mail for School Health Program, answers the telephone, maintains inventory of supplies, procures supplies for program, assists with office equipment maintenance, coordinates program vehicle maintenance and prepares travel forms and documentation for School Health staff as needed. Supports quality assurance and improvement projects.


Maintains program meeting minutes and assists with developing School Health Advisory Committee (SHAC) meeting agendas, attendance rosters, minutes, meeting reminders, produces e-mails and other communications. Assists Program Manager and SHAC Chair in the coordination of SHAC meetings. Assists with other meeting minutes and reports as needed.

Ensures timely, accurate submission of EARS and Timesheets. Performs other related duties as required, participating in staff development, program meetings, departmental events and trainings.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: General office procedures and practices; basic computer skills; correct grammar usage; general knowledge of anatomy and physiology. Ability to: conduct health screenings; prepare reports and correspondence; plan, organize and coordinate work activities; develop and implement office procedures; review data for accuracy and completeness; communicate effectively; establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.


Minimum Qualifications:

Two years of verifiable experience working in a healthcare/medical setting (hospital, clinic, doctor office or health department)


Two years verifiable work experience scheduling meetings and/or maintaining calendars, creating and maintaining reports for management


Willing to work before, during, and/or beyond normal work hours or days in the event of an emergency. This may include working in a special needs or Red Cross shelter, or performing other emergency duties including, but not limited to, responses to or threats involving any disaster or threat of disaster, man-made or natural.
