Staff Accountant

What You will Do:
- Prepare and analyze minimally complex supporting work papers, reports, filings, and ad hoc requests.
- Monitor, evaluate and reconcile minimally complex financial records to ensure transactions are properly recorded.
- Rotate with others in the department for daily balancing activities.
- Proactively identify areas with potential to have a financial benefit to the Companies.
- Prepare minimally complex components of the annual budget and forecasting processes.
- Assist with audits, both internal and external, by providing documentation.
- Complete filings, surveys, and financial data for third parties.
- Comply with internal control system to ensure reliability of financial results.
- Act in a support role for the ongoing use of systems and applications.
- Assist with testing and execution of IT system changes that impact Finance reporting processes.
- Keep abreast of current industry, regulatory, and applicable financial field (accounting, tax, audit, etc.) practices.
What It Takes to Join Our Team:
- Bachelor's degree (Accounting or Finance preferred) or equivalent with 1+ year's relevant experience.
- CPA designation preferred.
- Reconciliation experience required.
- Excel experience required with ability to learn other software applications specific to the job.
- Ability to read, write and speak the English language.
- Oral and written communication skills as appropriate to this position and capable of dealing with all levels of employees and outside professionals.
- Basic knowledge in applicable financial field (such as Statutory, state and federal tax laws, payroll, MAR, etc.),
- Applicable experience in insurance industry preferred.
- Results oriented and possess analytical skills.
- Ability to take direction and work in a team environment.
